Igor Grigorenko has been recalled from Russia and will play on the Wings third line with Dennis Derosiers and Saline Policeman Chad Dana, 1987 standout for the Arthur Hill Lumberjacks. Dana, typically a stay-at-home defenseman said he’s comfortable playing the wing, even after a 20 year absence from organized hockey.
No, none of that’s happening. It was a gratuitous slam at Grigorenko, a tribute to my favorite Saginaw Gear and a not-so-subtle salute to my drunk friends from my hometown. Good enough?
Excellent.

Three goals on the doorstep tonite. Is that kinda gritty? Just wonderin’.

Matt wrote he would trust his GR connections on Hartigan. I thought of that earlier this period when Hartigan laid a vicious, unnecessary hit on Gaborik, quite a distance behind the play.

Things are getting chippy. Time for Deputy Downey to step in drop somebody.

Thought about that too Gramps. Couldn’t remember where I’d read it.

If Federuk was dressed there wsould have been some head hunting after that Gaborik hit.
Posted by HockeyTownTodd on 12/22/07 at 10:21 PM ET
Agreed Pete, especially without Boogard dressed. No need to mix it up with that bastard unless absolutely necessary.
Gotta give FSD Minnesota credit. They were about to cut to commercial, but waited to see if there was going to be a fight. Versus would have been out of there twenty seconds earlier.

I live in GR and catch quite a few Griffins games. Hartigan is talented, but does have a bit of a ‘Lang’ in his play. He’s not a bad player, does have an offensive upside, but doesn’t have what it takes to have a constant spot in the show.

Can’t watch the game because I’m working on papers but just wanted to chime in my informed opinion:
“Is that kinda gritty? Just wonderin’.”
Yes and Lidstrom is hockey god incarnated to merely toy with those who think they’re good; he’s looking at you “Gabby.”

Hasek looks good tonight. Probably as good as I’ve seen him.

And Mickey agrees with me.

Minnesota announcer: 48-19 in shots now, that’s sort of one-sided.
Posted by IwoCPO from Sunny San Diego, bitches on 12/22/07 at 10:25 PM ET
Hasek has been good. But Backstrom… damn. He’s made some good ones, including just then on Huds. Not his fault we put 50 shots on goal.
And Iwo, hows the foreign coverage? I’m at home for Christmas so for once I’m not watching on Center Ice Online.

Zepplin, AC/DC and Van Halen tonite in Minnesota. Not bad.

Wings finally back on track, and the surprising thing is 2/3 of the Babby Flying Circus Line is in the MASH unit.
Posted by HockeyTownTodd on 12/22/07 at 10:28 PM ET
Not bad Pete. They’ve been very complimentary of the Wings all night. Just said that they thought with all the Detroit injuries they expected a closer game, but the Wings have shown the depth in their system all night (where are you Thom?).

Good win, great way to go into the short break. Hey everyone, Merry Christmas and all that.

looks like a solid effort tonight from everyone involved. always nice to see Pav step it up in the absence of his brother from another mother (Hank). i’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for Fil, love him on a line with Pav. if anyone can show him that pass-first is good, shoot-score first is better, it’s him.
i do think we should start talking about the most intriguing topic of early ‘08: who we’re getting at the deadline. i love this team, though Lilja scares the shit out of me 50% of the time. however, looking at some of the worse teams in the league the mind boggles. Kovalchuk? Jokinen? Hossa? Arnott? i’d hate to give up someone like Fil or Hudler. Samuelsson? do it.
how bout a first line of Kovalchuk, Datsyuk, and Fil? second line of Homer, Hank, and Huds? the Triple H line! or maybe Homer, Hank, Cleary? one more potent scorer and another solid defenseman for depth and toughness and we’d get have a clear path to the Cup. obviously none of this takes into account money. i hate talking about money.
i also like Pete’s idea about Selanne. IWO, can you have a post about this? soonish? happy holidays and happy new year to everyone. i’ll be doing my usual christmas stuff: eating Chinese food and heading to the movies.

Chief said, “Make that 8. Speaking of “8”, that would be the number the Wings have outscored Farber’s Hockeytown this year, so far. As in 8-0.”
LMAO!!! That kills, Chief. It’s not MSP anymore; it’s “Farber’s Hockeytown.”
We need that separation from the wannabes.
What do the Wings need at the trade deadline in February?
I’d give up all of the Wings’ 2008 picks for the Flames’ 2003 1st round, 9th overall pick.

Here’s something someone posted on a Minnesota blog regarding the Wild laying claim to the “Hockeytown, USA” title:
Associated Press
12/22/2007 11:59:26 PM
ST. PAUL, Minn. - After another dominating victory over the Minnesota Wild, Red Wings centre Kris Draper packed his bag in front of his locker and was asked where he was headed.
“I’m going back to Hockeytown,” Draper said with a smile.

Agreed Pete. Was reading an article on ESPN today that mentioned Rocket Richard once getting named as all three stars of the game. Sometimes I think we should see the same done for Nick.
