Hartigan Re-Joins Wings

Updated 1255 EST: More from the Freep’s George Sipple,

Quick update from Red Wings practice in St. Louis.

Mark Hartigan has been recalled from Grand Rapids (AHL) for tonight’s game against the Blues.

Henrik Zetterberg (back spasms), Tomas Holmstrom (knee) and Kirk Maltby (knee) are not going to be in the lineup tonight for the Wings.

——-

Mark Hartigan’s been recalled on an “emergency basis.”  No word yet as to who isn’t ready (Zetterberg or Holmstrom). Diggers aren’t on this one yet, but will be soon…I’m assuming.
——-

Good point from Nathan below:  If Hartigan’s been recalled, it could very well mean neither player is ready.

Wouldn’t Hartigan’s recall indicate that neither player is ready?

Zetterberg won’t be playing tonight, he gave it a go in the morning skate and still didn’t feel ready enough. My feeling is that we’ll see him Saturday at the earliest.

Hartigans recall means nothing significant.  He was more than likely sent down because his salary for the holiday layoff counts against the Cap.  Other teams do this all the time.

Oh, so it’s Maltby’s knee that’s hurt now?

Good catch Matt, it could be that back specialist that Malts consulted told him it was his knee.  It has now gone from his shoulder to his back to his knee.  I smell “Office Pool, anyone”.

I’m guessing it was just a mistake on Sipple’s part. The other Detroit writers are still calling it a back injury.
