Game has sorta settled in some.  DAL doesn’t seem to have, at least at the moment, a whole lot of “intensity”

Dallas’ passes are sloppy.

another PP for the Wings, all as a result of poor passing by Dallas.

DAL is JUST like COL—they cannot keep up with DET speed

Posted by Jeff OKWingnut from Quest for 12 on 05/08/08 at 07:14 PM ET

Maybe they are used to the poor ice in Dallas.  Both teams looked like incompetent passers in that series, no matter how good the players actually were.

I think it would be funny if Drake gets a goal against Dallas.

I don’t think the two things are mutually exclusive.  Why not both?

I wonder if, between these two teams, Sweden has anyone left to play in the World Championships?

Wow, the reffing (and linesmanning) in that period was absolutely atrocious.  Maybe two of those penalties were earned, not to mention the incorrect offside call on Zubov on the Stars first power play, a phantom hand pass on Holmstrom on the Wings power play, the icing against the Stars where Lidstrom tipped the puck, and what looked like a high stick (the puck kind, not the penalty kind) by Datsyuk in the Wings zone on a power play.  Unreal.

Weak period by the Stars, pretty good one by the Wings.  But it’s been tough to tell with all those stupid penalties called.

Oh well, at least Douche Canoe isn’t there.

DAL has to be wondering what hit them.  ANA and SJS are defense oriented.

DET is just as good (if not better defensively), but can actually light the lamp like a christmas tree!!

You’re right B.

The refs were clearly trying to set a tone. 1) no extracurriculars; only one of you will go. 2) no hooking or holding, no matter where. 3) penalties are penalties even if you’re shorthanded.

My concern, however, is that different ref teams will call it differently. I assume some of that will be mitigated by what seems to be clear directives from high in the NHL office.

sitting back and waiting for your chances used to work against the Wings.  apparently Dallas hasn’t got the message that this is no longer the case.

Damn no alarm going and weird NASN listings…but I’m in.

Just in time to miss what sounds like a first period better than any of us could have hoped, and to see Ozzie give us heart palpitations with what looked to be a ‘Bad Dom’ impersonation.  And ‘rem55ember’ as the confirmation word…look out Joel Lundquist.

Oh well.  Let’s Go Red Wings!
