Hockey In Denver. How Cute.

Just like the last time the Wings played at the Ass Can? The transplants will be louder than the Denver “fans”. They’ll be more knowledgable and they’ll have the last laugh. It is what it is. It makes no difference who’s lined up for the Wings, how many Griffins there are against the same “next ones” the Dive have been throwing out there for years.
It’s excellence against sustained mediocrity. It always is. Detroit, with their amazing Western Canadien(an) sweep that came despite an injury-wrecked lineup, proved the last three games that they can play any style, against any team, on any night, under whatever circumstances our fairy princess of a commissioner creates.
Leading the West and back home atop the division we leased out to the rent-a-Hawks last season, and facing a team that will leave their current city before they ever contend for a Cup again, this game has all the potential to mean nothing to Detroit. The legs will be tired. They’ll be outshot and maybe even outskated. And they’ll somehow pull it out because that’s what Cup winners do and someone please tell me this Wings team isn’t the favorite. And include your redolent venn diagram of a theory as to how they shouldn’t be.
For now? We have other issues to discuss. Like lies. Outright, dirty, filthy, wonderful lies. This.
Holland said the team is fine with having minor leaguer Joey MacDonald back up Jimmy Howard while Osgood is gone.
Tick Tock, we love you. But that is a dirty whore thing to say. You’re a lying liar and we absolutely dig that about you.
But hey…Osgood got his 400th, eh? That’s what matters, right?
Start ticking off the veterans who Holland is going to be making calls on. There will be a new backup goalie in Detroit. Wanna know why? Because of what I said up above. This team is built for something Cuppy and there is no way in Hell the best GM in the world is going to sit back and take even the slightest chance that the Wings’ fate rests in the hands of a goalie like MacDonald.
It’s a Live Blog bitches. The Wings are in Denver where the “fans” are fickle and the hockey’s lukewarm on even the best of nights. LGRW and, as always, Dive fans? You can suck it and you can suck it just like you have for 8+ years.

Ahoy, Chief. We sure miss your PBR-induced rants against the “princess of a league commish” (friggin’ brilliant). Stay safe and a million thanks…
Sure would love that gutsy performance tonight against the Nucks for the Wings cavalry in the Ass Can. We got lots of good people cheering on the Red and White so let’s give them plenty to cheer about.
LGRW!!!

I’d wouldn’t mind seeing Michael Leighton giving Tiberius a night off once in a while for the next few months.
That might work. The only other option I can see is trying to sneak Nabakov through waivers…like that’ll happen. If only Stevie weren’t so damn smart to pick up Roloson, and I doubt we want his sloppy seconds of Ellis or Smith.

Posted by Sullyosis from A hateful lair in Post Apocalyptic US (or Arizona) on 01/10/11 at 09:14 PM ET
Leighton passed waivers, we would have to trade for him or wait for him to be re-called on waivers. I think the re-call is doubtful unless there are injuries, sending him down seemed more like a salary dump.
MacDonald is not as bad as you think, he earned his journeyman status on Long Island.

Can I get an AMEN from the cheap seats?!! Ole Tick Tock’s is gonna be working overtime to crack this conundrum.

First time in a couple seasons we haven’t made it to either Denver game. Good to see some things don’t change.

I’m with Chief, Holland is downplaying to get a better deal. We Will need a healthy viable back-up for the playoffs. He may wait till the deadline to get a better picture of how Oz is recovering from surgery.
I hope there is no let down tonight. I want to see some Avs get beat down…where they belong. LGRW!

Start ticking off the veterans who Holland is going to be making calls on.
Assuming Ozzie’s groin problem is serious, Holland might give the Captain a call a help him with his goalie glut.
Dan Ellis is a UFA at seasons end, and is currently making $1.5 mil / yr, which pro-rated is only $750 K for the rest of the season ( actually less when the deadline comes around).
Ellis had several good seasons with bubba. I’m not sure whom the lightning are looking at moving Ellis, or Smith? One would assume roloson is staying.

Evenin’ bitches. It’s like you said Chief, he’s got 401. It’s wake-up time all over again. Jimmah, we’re gonna be the “hard on the goalie fans” we always are. No exceptions.
We expect excellence, and, need another outstanding effort. Let’s Roll.
Lets Go Red Wings!!!!!

Well as long as we’re speculating…. Uncle Mike and J.S. Gigurre (sp) have some history together. He’s also a UFA at season’s end and whomever it is he’s playing for may well be looking to dump him at the deadline. Thoughts?

With Toronto. Currently IR with yet another groin issue. His game has been declining and he’s on the books for $6M. That’s to steep. If it weren’t for the salary, I’d say what the hell.
Posted by Nate A from Detroit-ish on 01/10/11 at 10:04 PM ET
My mistake, with Giguere it is another groin issue. Hip problems he believes are behind him.
Also, keep in mind that anyone decent at a reasonable price will likely not make it through waivers, and in a trade the team will hardly be dealing from a position of strength.

Shut your whore mouth.
Until further notice, our cycle of sacrificing bodies to Jobu in exchange for a win officially ended right where it began. It started with a win over the Canucks (Pasha) and ended with a win over the Canucks (Ozzy)!

Not willing to lose anyone, but this would be the PERFECTLY WONDERFUL TIME for Rafalski’s back to act up again. Or Zetterberg’s back won’t permit him to play, since he’s been fighting it for a few games now.
