Back in Michigan for a week’s vacation…which is why I’ve avoided each of you for more than five days. Consider this a brief interruption before I get back to remaining unshaven and 12 ounces heavier.
Two guys. Two “snipers”. And a couple issues.
First. Oompa Loompa’s playing hardball? Is that what I’m to understand? He’s calling press conferences and somebody’s (his agent no doubt) saying he’s KHL-bound. George, of course, is on it and will stay after it.
We dig you Happy. You’ve become a favorite of the 19 and we’d like to see you make some money.
We would have also liked to see you score just once in your last twelve playoff games. Because, write this down, a “sniper” who doesn’t “score” doesn’t get to be “strong-willed” or “stubborn”.
In other words, take the money Tick Tock offers you, be a Red Wing and do your job in the playoffs. When you do, the payday you think you deserve might come. Or it might not. Maybe it never will and maybe your real reward is playing on the Best Team in Hockey and being a millionaire while you’re at it.
So, STFU about the KHL talk.
How about this? See this?
“After a while, he didn’t want to be in the (AHL) and lost his enthusiasm for being there,” Holland said.
Tick Tock Kenny’s talking about Ville Leino and that quote rubs me wrong. I’m wondering. When Leino is on the third line, or even the fourth, and his minutes aren’t what he believes they should be because he’s got a little issue with backchecking, is he going to “lose his enthusiasm for being there”?
Mark this down. Leino is going to spend the occasional evening hour in Uncle Mike’s doghouse.
As I told you, I’m vacationing back in Michigan and it’s awesome. In St. Clair Shores until Thursday then it’s Up North for three days with five of my friends from high school. My wife is promising me she’s going to be counting the amount of times she has to shake her head at me and say, “Bill….In. Appropriate.”
Oh, and I had a run-in with a Wing yesterday. More to follow on that because it was funny and I want to do the story justice.
Almost forgot. If you’re feeling “real lowdown today” (I’m back to quoting Seger because, bitches, I’m in Michigan)...consider this: 47 Tuesdays until the Cup comes home.

How many Tuesdays until Detroit arrives at the sad realization that the number will reset to 52
52…52…where do I recognize that number from? Ah yes…Jonny. I miss my Swedish mutated beast man.

Joel Lundqvist will also be leaving the NHL to be Axelsson’s teammate.
Heh, he signed around a month ago.

Just in time for the pre-season drinking to commence.

I just cherry picked this little gem is from Puck Daddy.
Is it in the League’s best interest for teams like the Red Wings to keep their cores together and compete every season? It’s a debatable point.
Thank you Greg. Now what is there to debate?

Quit crapping your pants like a junkie looking for his fix, 19. The Chief will be back, don’t fret.
It is summer and the offseason, take time to enjoy it. Hockey and the Chief will be back.
Until then, relax and enjoy some fun in the sun. Or get couselling. I leave it up to you guys.

Honey, I don’t need counseling or a suntan, just a fix. To each his own.

Um…sun? What sun? We’ve only had a dozen or so days over 80 degrees this summer in Michigan. And I beleive that at least 80% of those days were on workdays….*sigh, Al Gore is full of sh!t, man.
Am I in Sweden yet?

Interesting info on the Grier situation where his agent says he’s expressed interest in the Wings.

I understand Kate. I haven’t had time for my fix this summer: skydiving. I have been busy and the weekend weather has been less than ideal, so no jumps yet this season. And I am bummed out. Don’t get me wrong, I miss having regular A2Y posts this summer, but not as much as I miss flying at 120+ mph in the summer.
Posted by VooX from Behind the Bar in the Hasek Club Car on 07/28/09 at 11:18 AM ET
CaptNorris5, it doesn’t mean anything (yet).
I’m interested in playing for the Wings, even for 150 dollars a year, but I sure won’t.

I prefer not to hear from the Chief ever again but to win a couple more Stanleys.

Without a doubt….MIA…..
Maybe some rumors will bring him back…..
See what you can do with these….....
Our Leader is:
Contemplating retirement?
Starting a KHL blog?
Being held without bail?
In Rehab?
US Navy CPO would be a great cover for
an International Arms dealer…
just pick your favorite…and jump on your twitter….TWEETERS

Our Leader is:
Contemplating retirement? Aren’t we all?
Starting a KHL blog? Plausible ... but wouldn’t Kukla need to be included?
Being held without bail? Most likely ... but not new.
In Rehab? Nah, he’s probably beyond help.
US Navy CPO would be a great cover for an International Arms dealer… Shhhh. You’ll blow his cover.
1st preseason game:
September 16 vs. Flyers at 7:30 pm ET in JLA
1st regular season game:
October 2 vs. the Blues at 3:00 pm ET in Stockholm, Sweden
and
16 to 12
GO WINGS!!!

I hear you VooX. I’ve been busy enough and have commented a few times, but I realize The Chief has a life as do we all.
I’m sure at some point this summer you’ll get to fly at 120+mph. Will there be any pics?
Lets Go Red Wings!!!!!

Stop the presses! We just signed Andy Delmore! Click my name if you want more details. Another blockbuster deal, Tick Tock.
Posted by Animal Drew from A Nightmare on Helm Street on 07/28/09 at 01:16 PM ET
From your blog:
So our blockbuster moves this summer have been to acquire Kris Newbury, Jeremey Williams, and Andy Delmore.
————————————————————————————————————————————————
At least we re-signed Ville Leino, and who knows…maybe one of these guys is a sleeper.
In Kenny we trust.
July 1st was the first day of some pretty impressive contracts for Henrik Zetterberg and Johan Franzen, as well. Don’t forget that! 3.9 a year for the Mule and 6.1 a year for Z’s heart, tenacity and a skillset greater than Hossa’s? I’ll take it.
Posted by shanetx on 07/28/09 at 01:24 PM ET
I’m aware…that’s why I said “this summer”.
It is well noted that our best off-season moves were made during the regular season…I think I wrote that somewhere when I talked about Newbury and Williams more in depth.

I never doubted your stability, Kate. You are one of the main voices of reason and sanity among the 19. Lord knows the Chief doesn’t play on a level field, but that’s why we like him and his work.
You can Facebook me if you want some skydiving photos from the last few years. Same goes for any of the 19, just be sure to include your A2Y name, so I know who you are. My f/b name is Andrew VooX. I don’t post much, but as I don’t own a non-cellphone camera it is my only way of getting pictures.

Not yet, buddy. The wonderful thing about skydiving is that is so progressive, you are always learning a new skill. Wingsuits, freeflying, parachute swooping, and the like are all in my future. My more short term goal is to learn to fly well enough to solve a Rubik’s Cube in freefall (before opening my parachute). I think by next year I will be able to do it, as my skydiving and my cubing will be sharp enough to complete the solve safely.

That is one heck of a short term goal. My short term goal would be to solve a Rubik’s Cube while sitting on my couch, with a little help from my friends.

Agreed on the progression part, I simply have a different fix. It’s as much the journey of continually working towards something as opposed to a destination.
I’ve been occupying myself with pre-season hunting, scouting, setting trail cameras, setting up tree stands and all things hunting. It’s good exercise, keeps me in the woods and fields and gets me a ways ahead of the normal Joe Schmoe who shows up opening morning of the hunting season with his hands in his pockets. I too am gathering puzzle pieces to hopefully get the last piece of the puzzle in place in time, as are you Voox.
How’s about a video via You Tube or the like Voox? Skydiving cubing… I’d like to see it so long as the outcome is not as bloody as the outcome of a successful hunt.

Kate, buy a Rubik’s Cube and I’ll teach you via email how to solve it.
MO, you are a dangerous man. Cameras on wildlife trails to stalk prey is devious. You apparently did not take last season lightly and likely will bag a massive buck to compensate this year. I’ve never shot a gun before, but if we ever met, you may have to take me out to fire off a few clips. Couldn’t kill anything, but I wouldn’t mind chopping down trees with hot lead. Woe be to the sleeping squirrel.

Thanks for the offer VooX, but that was my lame attempt at sarcasm.
My boys had the cube in the 80’s, and yes, I had to solve the puzzle. There was no way I was going to be outsmarted by my own children.

The Chief is around, he’s on Twitter today. I suspect a new blog is in the works. Then we can get back to the regularly scheduled awesomeness/speculation/off season insanity. However, I personally would like to know how to solve a Rubik’s Cube.

Personally, I used to just peel the stickers off and re-apply them in a proper, organized fashion. That seemed like the most efficient solution when I was a kid.
