I’ve already jinxed our Stanley Cup party. So, now you can just relax.
It’s a Game 5 Cup Clinching Live Blog.

Heading into the 3rd OT. We need some mojo.

I just cracked my beer and sat down. Been feeling good all day, but the second I relaxed I was OVERWHELMED with the fear.
They could lose tonight.
They could lose game 6.
Nothing is done.
Crap.

My six year old, clearly politicking for chocolate milk: “I love the red wings more than my birthday dad.”
She’s lying. But it worked.

“9 out of 10 dentists” aka she who must be obeyed…just said Pavel D is gonna have a nite. I never question her.

Prediction: Edge girls are going to be unbelievable with 4 minutes left in the third and a two goal lead.

Evening all. Does anything really need to be said that hasn’t already?
Ortonville? I used to spend my summers there.
Me too, Jman! Tamarack and Maas?
Looks like Lilja in tonight, no Cheli. Well, he’s played more than half the regular season games.
Shot of Cherry handling an octopus, not wearing his customary garish suit. This is a special day.
Zetterberg “The Cup Changes Everything” ad just on. He’s the exception that proves the jinx from that ad.

Still, Malkin is very young and inexperienced - give him another few years and he’s talented enough to shake the “playoff choke” label the same way Datsyuk has.
I’d like to see Cleary score a goal for the premier (provincial governor?) of Newfoundland. I bet if Detroit can win, the entire provice is going to be drunk for days.

Alright, let’s do this. There’s some kids in Africa or Burma in dire need of some “Penguins Stanley Cup Champions” t-shirts.

Osrt, been meaning to mention all day…the “Evening of Ken” line had me in stitches.

Nobody knows that more than the team and Babcock, Gabe. They will not relent until the lead and the buzzer.

This my fourth or fifth game in the live blog and I am glad to be part of the 19 (I think I said that right). Time to take this one home!
Posted by A II R from Los Angeles, CA on 06/02/08 at 07:12 PM ET
Figured that would probably cater to your delicate sensibilities, Chief… heh.
Enjoy the ride, I’m a-goin’ dark for a while.

I’d like to see Cleary score the Cup clincher, if only to prove that hard work and perseverance DO pay off. By the way, that applies to all of you who are striving for degrees. Congratulations.

A II R, you’re definitely one of the 19. Welcome aboard the Stress Train bitch. That’s gender neutral by the way.

My black lab (Sailor) has taken up residence next to me on the Chief Couch. I’m not sure he’s aware of the whole pets-in-danger-if-the-wings-fall-behind-early situation.

Someone’s gotta find a pic of Karen Newman from tonite to grace this thread. That was amazing.
Posted by Nate A from Detroit-ish on 06/02/08 at 07:16 PM ET
Chief, normally I would suggest you send him over to the neighbors house but… you know.
