How’s Your Uncle Mike Meter Today?

Mine’s pretty good, as usual. As a matter of fact, I just did a quick count: 29 Tuesdays until the Cup comes home to Hockeytown.
Oh, you misguided, myopic piece of trash. Did you just think that to yourselves? Noted. But I also considered this before admitting my optimism this morning.
Dan Cleary had this to say.
“He knows when to push and when not to push. I think he’s the best coach in the league. It’s his work ethic. His staff cares about the little things that go unnoticed and win games.”
The emperor brought you that story, courtesy of The Province, this morning. Thank him when you can.
3-4-2 is no time to say this, but I’m going to anyway: I have full faith in Mike Babcock. If he opts to change lines every practice, I’m good. If he chooses to keep Lebda and the Big Rig together, despite their horrow show of a track record so far? I trust his reasoning. Do I understand it? Nope. But I fully believe that he does and that he has a damn good reason to do what he’s doing.
If we know that Jonathon Ericsson has been on the ice for 7 of the last 8 goals against, you don’t think our Uncle does? And, as much as I’ve ragged on Brad McCrimmon here…don’t you think Babcock and Holland would have let him go long ago if he was really the issue?
If Mike Babcock’s stressing out about this team, he’s doing a damn good job of hiding it. I view him as a flight attendant. If there’s turbulence, I’m looking at her. She may know as much about aviation and navigation as Tyler’s dad, but I’m looking at her for reassurance that I’m not dying soon. If she’s calm, so am I.
Uncle Mike’s serving me beers at six bucks a pop at 30-thousand feet. If he’s calm, I am too. I’m well aware that many of you “experts” are scoffing at that. But you know what? It’s how I choose to live my life. I choose to believe that Mike Babcock knows what he’s doing, that he’s the best coach in the league…just like a lot of smart people say and think he is.
So to answer my own question? My Uncle Mike Meter’s pegged today. Full confidence. Full. Confidence. This shit ends tonite.

The thing that is wrong with that photo is the fighters are the wrong gender. I believe most of the bitching done around here today has been by males. Bitches.

Do you have any antidotal evidence to support that?

See, Bob’s trolling does nothing for me. It’s the same recycled stuff, I almost don’t even need to read it. It’s like Dive Madlibs. For instance, imagine if you told Bob that you were plowing his wife every single night—I mean really, really steamrolling her good. To the point where she could never get enough and you had to use midgets and foreign devices. No hole unexplored, no gerbil spared. Doin’ it.
Well would that still mean anything to you on the 50th comment? Hell, the 5th? Of course not. Linda on the other hand is so psychologically complex that he’s made a number of us lose our shit at least once or twice. Nobody understands him. You think you do, but you don’t. Is he a Pens fan? *#$%@& I don’t know .... he might not be able to tell the difference between Sidney Crosby and Sidney Poitier. He’s that mysterious. Smells like 1st ballot to me.

“What I’m saying to you is Draper and Fil could be all over the place,” Babcock said. “I liked all my lines last game, and yet we’re not scoring. And so, when you’re not scoring, you’re trying to find something to help you generate some more offense. In saying that, the Draper line did score. Bertuzzi, we thought, had another one in the game, and Bert hit a post, so they had good opportunity. We’ll see.”

Linda isn’t very complex at all. S/he’s just lonely and needs people to like him/her/it. It’s sad but somehow doesn’t draw out empathy.
Agreed about Bob though. Ploughing his wife with gerbils is only funny the first four times, then you begin questioning the sickness that brought you into the Boulder family. And you shoot yourself so you don’t reproduce.
The Only troll in the HOF is Thhommass. Dude was Epic. He even threatened us with charts and statistics like PSH, but couldn’t figure out how links worked. Batshitcrazy.
Posted by Osrt on 10/27/09 at 03:37 PM ET
Justin Abdelkader and Brad May will return to the lineup. Patrick Eaves is the other healthy scratch at forward. For the second straight practice

There was also that dude that wanted the Chief literally to die. I can’t remember who that was though.
I’m a little confused about the Helm thing.

This has been a very amusing thread to read today.
I’m confused about Helm too. If things go right, it looks like I’ll have my set up and be able to join the LB tonight.

I’m a little confused about the Helm thing.
Likely, so is Taz. His +/- is better than most of the forwards.
“I think the big thing is, anytime you miss training camp, and especially when you’re a kid, it’s tougher,” Babcock said. “Helmer, on this team, in my opinion, should be pushing for the third-line center, not battling for the fourth-line center.”
Posted by CaptainDennisPolonich from Warm and sunny SoCal on 10/27/09 at 04:03 PM ET
Only two great minds represented on this blog: Uncle Mike and Uncle Bob. Thanks guys. Fire Babcock. You won’t find another Bowman or Babcock out there.
And why are you into gerbils? Personally, can’t stand the things. Hard to find one without Draper stank all over it.
Posted by rwhater on 10/27/09 at 04:07 PM ET
Hot damn, no Helm. Perplexed, but ok. Honestly I’ve thought he looked a bit better than Eaves, but perhaps he needs some time.
I think one of the issues that we’ve had trouble with has been complacency. The kids need to learn how to skate with the hate. Therefore, I suggest we claime Stephanne Yelle from waivers. For $500k we can have a skater from the other side of the Rivalry. He’ll play only in practice. Todd Bertuzzi and Brad May will use him to run a murder clinic for some of the less-hungry younguns on the team. Sobotka can keep him chained up in the Zamboni tunnel and drag him onto the ice during intermissions. Fans can then pelt him with hockey pucks. First one to make him cough blood gets a signed jersey!
This feels like a good idea to me. Though honestly I may want to just substitute in Lebda the next time he gives up an odd man rush by pretending he’s a power forward.

So no word on whether Helm’s benching is a performance thing or a rushed back too soon from shoulder injury thing?

Helm being punished for checking, I think. Team Eurosoft does not like checking.

From The Detroit News. Babcock didn’t want to make it sound like he’s making Helm a scapegoat for the team’s slow start.
“Don’t get me wrong,” he said. “Helmer’s been fine. He’s not at the level I am used to having him, but there’s a lot of guys that could be accused of that.

Sounds like it’s a performance thing based on Uncle Mike’s comment about how he should be battling for the 3rd line job, rather than the 4th.

Wow. Just wow. What in the F is going on here? Aren’t we all pulling towards the same outcome? I’m already tired of the pissing match between Chief and HTT. You both dickheads. Who’s going to man up first and apologize? Nobody? Fine. Just frickin’ fine. I will not be participating in the LB tonight as a protest. Not that anyone really cares anyway. If I wanted this kind of bitching and self-loathing I’d go to the Dive board. Aloha my friends…. I’ll check in on thursday.
