How’s Your Uncle Mike Meter Today?

Mine’s pretty good, as usual. As a matter of fact, I just did a quick count: 29 Tuesdays until the Cup comes home to Hockeytown.
Oh, you misguided, myopic piece of trash. Did you just think that to yourselves? Noted. But I also considered this before admitting my optimism this morning.
Dan Cleary had this to say.
“He knows when to push and when not to push. I think he’s the best coach in the league. It’s his work ethic. His staff cares about the little things that go unnoticed and win games.”
The emperor brought you that story, courtesy of The Province, this morning. Thank him when you can.
3-4-2 is no time to say this, but I’m going to anyway: I have full faith in Mike Babcock. If he opts to change lines every practice, I’m good. If he chooses to keep Lebda and the Big Rig together, despite their horrow show of a track record so far? I trust his reasoning. Do I understand it? Nope. But I fully believe that he does and that he has a damn good reason to do what he’s doing.
If we know that Jonathon Ericsson has been on the ice for 7 of the last 8 goals against, you don’t think our Uncle does? And, as much as I’ve ragged on Brad McCrimmon here…don’t you think Babcock and Holland would have let him go long ago if he was really the issue?
If Mike Babcock’s stressing out about this team, he’s doing a damn good job of hiding it. I view him as a flight attendant. If there’s turbulence, I’m looking at her. She may know as much about aviation and navigation as Tyler’s dad, but I’m looking at her for reassurance that I’m not dying soon. If she’s calm, so am I.
Uncle Mike’s serving me beers at six bucks a pop at 30-thousand feet. If he’s calm, I am too. I’m well aware that many of you “experts” are scoffing at that. But you know what? It’s how I choose to live my life. I choose to believe that Mike Babcock knows what he’s doing, that he’s the best coach in the league…just like a lot of smart people say and think he is.
So to answer my own question? My Uncle Mike Meter’s pegged today. Full confidence. Full. Confidence. This shit ends tonite.

About Abel to Yzerman
Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
