Hull: Datsyuk’s Chances of Staying in Detroit Are “None.”

Not sure how many of you caught it, but Brett Hull just said Pavel Datsyuk is unhappy with Mike Babcock and will definitely be leaving over the summer.  Eddie Olczyk made a great point in return, asking what more could Datsyuk want? He’s playing in every situation, leading forwards in minutes and points.  Sounds like a lot of Hull bluster to me.  We’ll see.

I was not happy with his Perv comment either.  I think Hully has some bad feelings towards Detroit and they are starting to come out.  Now how would they know if Datsyuk is not happy with Babcock or either two assist coaches.  Total BS in my book.

And a almost last place team to go along with Ovechkin?

Datsyuk’s building a house in Birmingham, isn’t he?

Doesn’t sound like something a guy with no intention of returning would do.

Hull was bored by the end of that BS-fest called a broadcast, and he wanted to ruffle some feathers.

Babs grinds on everybody’s nerves at least occasionally, but for monkey’s sake, Datsyuk’s an acknowledged leader on a winning team, playing alongside another “best buddy” in Zetterberg, and he’s got enough leaders around him in the locker room that he doesn’t have to be the team’s media spokesman.  And yes, he’s building a house in Birmingham.

Hullie’s probably been talking Manny Legace again…He did achieve his goal of starting a bogus rumour, but if Datsyuk leaves Detroit, it’ll be about money and nothing more.

I heard the perv-vs-impervious comment, too, and my first thought was that for someone as smart as Hull, the last thing I expected was the equivalent of fart humor.  The last time I thought that kind of thing was really funny was in grade school (or in college at about 5:00 am after studying Latin American history and organic chemistry all night… but anything is funny at that point).

Hull also scoffed at Washington, too—he said they don’t have any money.  They got burned big time by Jagr, and this time they are determined to build with young players and not go after expensive free agents.

Was there anyone Hull wasn’t bitching about during the game?

He’s probably just trying to stir the pot. Datsyuk seems like he wants to stay here.

Brett Hull = “The Mouth that Roared”, I have as much faith in what Brett says as I do in Jeremy Roenick.  He just loves to stir up trouble.

Good call, hockeychic.  Hull is always entertaining.  But being entertaining and being accurate aren’t always synonymous.  Speaking of Roenick I think JR would be a great addition to the NBC crew when he eventually hangs ‘em up.

Hull’s not the only one who thinks Datsyuk is done in Detroit. most columnists I have read have said that unless he has a monster playoff season Detroit doesn’t really want to re-sign him.
