I Guess What We’re Talking About Is A Live Blog

I left it up to you, the A2Y readers, to decide where we should converse during the remaining regular season games, then the 22 playoff games to follow (4-1, 4-2, 4-2, 4-1).

Oh no he dint. Oh…yes I did.  Yes I frigging did. I just predicted the outcome of all four Wing series’.  Just for fun, let’s predict how the Blues will do.  Ready?

Woops. Sorry about that.  Live blog here.

I gave you guys a free pass when we brought the LB back on Tuesday.  Few comments, just me entertaining myself (shut up).  Tonite’s a different story. I demand witty interaction.  And not the loads of juvenile stuff either.

“Load”....YES.  God, that’s funny.

1925:  Going with the SopCast tonite because even though I paid the 130 bucks for NHL TV, it’s blacked out because it’s on the NHL Network; which happens to be nothing but a cruel figment of my imagination, since I’ve never seen it.  Thanks Gary.  Ass.  Just in case the SopCast fails, I’ve got Ken and Paul cued up on the radio side.

1939:  Tantrum on the way. SopCast says my channel is offline.  Radio only for now.

1951:  I could recap the absolute hatred I have for the idiots who market our league and the little man who runs this farce, but it would be redundant.  And we all know redundancy has no place here. It really has no place here.

2000:  Thanks to Solo16 and all others.  SopCast is working.  Should it be this hard to watch a hockey game? Really?

2004:  Whew. Good thing I got it going just in time to see the BBs score.

2006: Bubba and the BJs scoreless in the second.  Minnesota and Vancouver about to start.  If anyone needs a reminder, Bubba will take over the 8 spot with a win and a Canuck loss.  Also, if you need another reminder, Dan Ellis is the starting goalie for Nashville. Luongo for Vancouver. I have my opinions about who we’d like to see on 12 April.

2013:  Just saw McCarty’s first shift. Rephrase: that was the first shift of his I saw. He took a run at somebody.  Made me feel warm.

2015: Bubba’s up 2-0.  Hell yes.

2037: McCarty: 2:37 TOI, 5 shifts, O hits, etc. for the first period.

2039: Datsyuk and Zetterberg’s first shift of the second and Rafalski looks like another forward out there.  Unfortunately, Franzen looks like another Homer.  Goalie interference call and the wheels on the bus go round and round. Ridiculous call.

2046: Holy Cow.  4 minute lag time on SopCast.  I can do a lot in four minutes.  Most of it twice in that span.  I’m gonna stop reading comments. I knew Rafalski scored two beers before I saw it.

2048: Wife just agreed with the twice in four minutes comment. That’s nice.  Nothing like a little support on the home front.

2058: Good news. Baroque just pointed out that Bob Luongo is down 2-0 in the first.  Warm. Fuzzy. Secure. That’s how I feel about that.

2122: 2-1 BB’s after two.  Apparently Franzen took a puck somewhere below the chest.  Discussion followed. Gabe predicted he’d lose his spleen. Baroque eloquently stated she was under the impression the puck hit him squarely in the nuts (my words). Gabe reluctantly admitted he has no idea where the spleen is located.  I’ve got the St. Louis feed going so have no idea. Anyone?

2128: McCarty: 4:48, 9 shifts, 1 shot, 1 hit after two.

2140: 8 spot is completely up for grabs. Bubba’s killing Columbus. Minnesota’s killing Vancouver.  The Dive took a 2-0 lead over Edmonton only to choke it away and they’re tied.

2151: Legace is clearly the difference tonite, as he’s been on a few occasions versus the Wings.  If he plays this well in the playoffs, St. Louis will be awfully tough to beat.  Oh…woops. Sorry.

2154: Franzen’s twelfth in twelve games, but credit for Detroit’s second goal goes to Rafalski for keeping that puck in. If you watch one replay tomorrow try to find that one. Amazing play.

2159: Unbelievable pass from Zetterberg and the continuation of a frigging carnival of a month for Franzen.  Amazing.

2210: Chris Osgood got what he deserved on a mediocre night.  Great play by Kariya to set up Boyes, who deserves plenty of credit for scoring 40 goals playing for such an absolute garbage team.

stoked for the return of the live blog!  unfortunately, my band has a show tonight in the heart of the beast (San Jose).  i’ll be wearing my Arcadia, Michigan shirt and praying for a Wings-Sharks conference final.  looking forward to reading over the wonderful, ridiculous comments on plays i will only be able to recreate in my mind.

bold predictions, Chief. got my fingers crossed.

With all this juvenile humor today a little ditty from grade school has gotten stuck in my head, so I’m making a stab at passing it along to someone else and getting it out of my brain.  smile

In days of old,
When knights were bold
And toilets weren’t invented,

They left their loads
Beside the roads
And walked away contented.

I came in late, Tivo’d the last 10 minutes and just caught FSD’s tribute to McCarty before the faceoff. It was a thing of beauty…absolute beauty. Whoever picked the music is my new favorite person.

Filppula looks good so far - quick and his skating is smooth, isn’t having any trouble handling the puck, so he is obviously at 100%.

Even funnier is that there are no Mobil on the Run stores across most of the St. Louis Metro area—All are in Missouri and only in select locations.

Wow, just like old times on the live blog!
I can’t figure out the reason many of you can’t see the game. I’m watching on FSN Detroit on DirecTV in NC. Same feed on NHL net, which I understand isn’t carried on many systems. I thought the Fox Sports packages were pretty much everywhere.

Chief, if it makes you feel better, the low resolution feed is giving a pretty bad “halo” effect on the hockey sticks and referee shirts.Sucks. I can hardly watch it.

Dougie, I think those of us watching it on SopCast or whatever illegal stream we have access to are doing so because we have cable providers who don’t carry Gary’s Network.

All: hope you’re enjoying the return of the liveblog.

No, he had several shifts.  With Hartigan and Drake - looked fine, but it will obviously take some time to get his timng back.  Ken and Mickey mentioned that he got a huge ovation from the crowd when he came out for warm-ups.

Actually, he and Maltby and Draper were the starting forwards at the beginning of the game.

Craptastic call of goaltender interference.

What a nice boss.

I’m not a parent, but it seems to me that maybe if I had flown to Florida, had a baby daughter, then flown to Minnesota, I might give up two goals in the first period, too.

Vancouver trailing 2-0 after one period.

Warm fuzzies gone. Babcock needs to spend some time in practice working on getting the hell out the way of a teammate’s shot.  The raging pessimist in me says Franzen loses a spleen or something.

I wasn’t thinking spleen.

I have an old television, with no HD, so maybe someone else had a better view…but it looked like poor Franzen took a puck to the lowest part of his midsection.  That’s a pretty sensitive area for guys, I hear.

I’m not sure where it hit, I didn’t see the replay.  Not that it matters, I have no clue where the spleen is.

Ha-ha.  smile

Mickey just went off on a touching penalty (can’t recall whether they called it a hook or a slash) on one of the Blues.  Said the crowd would be up in arms if the penalty was called on the Wings, and it wasn’t even enough to be called for a foul in basketball.  You could hear the “harrumph” in the tone of his voice.

Babcock just said Franzen was fine, got winded a little bit - and he’s back on for the third period.

It looked like he caught a puck right in the gonadal region, which would account for him being hunched over at the bench and then going into the room with the trainer.

Just got off the phone with my mom.

I mentioned that Detroit was losing to St. Louis and having a tough time scoring on Legace (plus the two posts).

Her exact quote:

“Of course he’s playing well.  It’s the regular season, and he doesn’t dissolve into a puddle of pee until the playoffs.  At least that won’t be a problem playing for St. Louis this year.”
