I Went To Church Incognito. Why? For The Live Blog.

Oh yes he did. The Chief whipped out a Vincent Furnier lyric for a live blog. That, in itself, should indicate just how important I (back to the first person, thanks) feel tonite’s game is.
Why is it important?
Because I have to invent reasons to stay up for the late, late games.
Don’t know Vince? Oh alright. Alice Cooper. And he’s from Hockeytown bitches.
It’s a Live Blog and your objectivity, tact and mild manners are more than welcome.
A couple of insider notes from Mike Chen at Battle of California:
-Joe Thornton’s groin injury seems more obvious with each game. He simply doesn’t use his legs or lower body to protect the puck the way that he normally does, and assuming he didn’t just revert into a craptacular player over the off-season, I’m assuming this is the lingering effects of his injury.
-For all you King fans…um…well, I see what you were complaining about with Rob Blake.

a lot of great comments .I have noticed that Filppula is better on his face-offs and his anticipation is better. That kid is just scratching the surface talent wise. So much more he will be capable of.
I wish the mule could stay healthy for a complete season. For a big guy he sure is injury prone. Concussion , knee, almost every season it is some of both.
I don’t think we will see to many changes until we get some cap relief . But Lebda, maltby, lilja could be bait with Mac going down to GR. we all agree that Helm and abdelkader and Leino look enticing but how to get the cap space to get them here and if they then earn it, staying? trade has to be in the works. multiple bodies for draft picks and cap relief. I don’t think it is any kind of knee jerk reaction either. More like intelligent tweaking. me fears we are stuck with Sammy, I have a good game every once in awhile.
It is like Kopecky, Maltby, Sammy, and Mac think they can have a good game here and there and it is enough .I am sure they are aware of it and trying to shore up their game but it just isn’t working consistantly. man to man it is a team issue.
Think of how crappy things would be if we didn’t have Hossa and the first line cliclking?

on the flip side, think of how great it’s going to be when Franzen comes back and Babcock decides to put Filpulla with Z and the Mule?

Paul, good point! But we still will have third and fourth line issues. It’s like we have all the sudden became a two line team.

Spanky is on board the Fil-crush bus!
...ummm..and when did Darren Garcia become a Wings fan?

Filppula is learning how to puck-/stick- handle from Datsyuk.
That’s a student of the game. Maybe in time, he’ll learn to shoot like Franzen and Hossa or even Lidstrom with the shot from the blue.

Fil is practicing with Z and Sammy. Lebda got benched for Meech.
And I’m a MotherF@#$@N Genius!!

Stevie said to watch Fil. I’ll take his word. Just sayin’.

I call it “Lilja Gets Traded”.
Brilliant.

Great to see Meech in the lineup, but can someone please offer a rational explanation for why Sammy is still on the second line with Zetterberg? I’m asking this seriously, because I don’t believe that Babcock is a completely irrational man.

Probably because if he moved Wally and Hudler to the same line, he’d have a difficult time putting together any kind of scoring third line with the current roster.
Just a guess.

I’ll take it on step farther Gabe…
Why is Sammy still a Red Wing? I’m past bitching about him on this line or the point on the PP. Even if he goes on a streak and scores 6-8 goals in 10 games… I still am going to pound on this drum… til he gets the size 11 in the ass down the road.
There I feel better….
Ducks lost to VAN in a SO after 23 shooters on Fri. I’d just as soon avoid any freaking OT or SO. Good solid 60, yes 3 full periods guys… and a convincing W in regulation to close out the road trip.

Other Topic -
Now available and should be on every Bro’s Christmas list hints for your significant others, if you have any, or anyone who would buy you a Christmas gift, or to buy for yourself. I’m dropping this Christmas hint for Karen N. and hope she picks up on it.

Rules for Bros are so much better, low maintenance, and uncomplicated than dealing with women/wifes/serious girlfriends. For instance,
“Article 52. A Bro is not required to remember another Bro’s birthday.” That is genius and right on.
By comparison, not only can you NOT forget your Gal’s birthday, but if you don’t come up with some genius individualized insightful present you are going to make her miserable and certain that you neglect her. Jebus! It’s only a Friggin’ Birthday. They’re like A-Holes, Everybody’s got one!

Ya’all remember the babe alert behind the Wings bench for the SJS game
Sure you’re not thinking of the Predatory Penguins (my new nickname for the Hawks, seeing as how they’re Little Gary’s Flavor of the Year this season) game, MO? I remeber that one…her stunning visage is etched deeply into my mind.

Man, The village People have gone a bit unhinged and creepy in their dotage…
Spanky is on board the Fil-crush bus!
And you call ME somebody’s bitch, Osrt…
...ummm..and when did Darren Garcia become a Wings fan?
Puts me in mind of a rather apropos line for this time of the year. “There’s a downtown fairy singin’ Proud Mary…”
As for Gramps, I’m just acknowledging where acknowledgement is due. Sometimes he has some wacked-out ideas, but in this case, it’s so wacked-out that it’s a freakin’ bullseye. The thing that made the team great last season is now being done to an extreme, and the team isn’t trusting its teammates to do their jobs to the best of their ability. That really is the biggest problem with the team right now.
But hell, he’s old-skool. That rocks anyway, so…
Belatedly Happy Halloween, guys. The Halloween Margaritas (yeah, the ones with candy corn) are on me.
Let’s hope it’s the milk of victory tonight for the lads.

I don’t know if I’ll be able to join you guys today for the live blog; gotta be awake and ready for them undergrads tomorrow morning.

hah. Thats it! We just to tell Sammy to shoot for the boards rather than the net. Bam! Instant 50 goal scorer. Or many dead fans.

With the time change and the late game, tomorrow mornings forecast is looking hungover with a side Booby Lou’s kiester after we roast him tonight.
Trying to be optomistsic….. wife says my poor attitude makes the team play lousy? What the hell does she know anyway?

Hmmmmm…from George James…..
Quick update from Wings practice Saturday: Derek Meech will be in for Brett Lebda tomorrow when the Wings play the Canucks.
St. James also reports that Babcock plans on giving Henrik Zetterberg a winger whose speed and passing ability (hopefully) better compliment Zetterberg and the surprisingly solid Mikael Samuelsson.
Suprisingly solid?

surprisingly solid Mikael Samuelsson.
Dude?
BTW, Rumbear.. .maybe I’m the reason we’ve lost and it’s not cause you aren’t in the kitchen…LOL. I’ve watched the last 2 games in the living room upstairs, not the man cave living room as usual…. sorry.

Cheli will be back mid-November if I remember correctly. Not sure about the Mule.
I think they’ll work different lines in today’s practice. Too bad MacLeod isn’t out there to repot what those might be.
