I Went To Church Incognito. Why? For The Live Blog.

Oh yes he did. The Chief whipped out a Vincent Furnier lyric for a live blog. That, in itself, should indicate just how important I (back to the first person, thanks) feel tonite’s game is.
Why is it important?
Because I have to invent reasons to stay up for the late, late games.
Don’t know Vince? Oh alright. Alice Cooper. And he’s from Hockeytown bitches.
It’s a Live Blog and your objectivity, tact and mild manners are more than welcome.
A couple of insider notes from Mike Chen at Battle of California:
-Joe Thornton’s groin injury seems more obvious with each game. He simply doesn’t use his legs or lower body to protect the puck the way that he normally does, and assuming he didn’t just revert into a craptacular player over the off-season, I’m assuming this is the lingering effects of his injury.
-For all you King fans…um…well, I see what you were complaining about with Rob Blake.

Holy crap Conklin….how many point blank saves is that??
Posted by Gabriel from San Diego, CA on 10/30/08 at 10:02 PM ET
Agreed, Chief—that was one of my main concerns heading into this game, especially as it’s the second of a back-to-back. Neither of our goalies has looked particularly stellar so far…though that was a great, confident challenge and save from Conks on Marleau. Nine saves so far…make that ten. Another great one. Keep up the Conkblocks, you crazy Alaskan…

Not surprised by San Jose’s speed. Watched them a couple weeks ago against the poultry and they absolutely dominated them in every facet.
Frigging Conklin saved Lilja’s bacon.

Holly hell Lils. You owe Conk bout 30 cold ones.
Posted by Nate A from Detroit-ish on 10/30/08 at 10:02 PM ET
Good thing Conklin’s rested, eh?
Posted by Matt Saler from Grand Rapids, MI on 10/30/08 at 10:04 PM ET
true about the speed factor. the Nucks were fast and gave us fits and san Jose is even faster.

Anybody got a net link for the game…..Justin’s letting me down.

I’ve seen the Sharks n Wings 7 times all in SJ.
I dislike them alot, but I remember Teemu, Nancy Kariya, Graves etc all there too.
The ice blows there and yet they still can get up and go
Posted by MOWingsfan19 on 10/30/08 at 10:04 PM ET
Why is Lilja still playing professional hockey?
The Pylon. He will be that to me forever, until the day I die. Why he is getting playing over Derek Meech, I’ll never know. He blocks shots and is big, oooooh. Big deal. Meech won’t throw the puck to a sniper point-blank in front of our goalie.

I’m represented vicariously tonight, my sis and ticket connection is there.
Posted by MOWingsfan19 on 10/30/08 at 10:05 PM ET
Being outshot 4-11. Yikes.
Yeah, these guys are making us look like we’re skating in taffy.
Posted by AndrewFromAnnArbor from Fortress Europe on 10/30/08 at 10:05 PM ET
Nice. After two passes go nowhere, Kopecky says “I’ll do it myself” and draws a penalty.
Posted by DetroitHockey on 10/30/08 at 10:06 PM ET
Great shift from Kopetsky. More than fifteen minutes before the first penalty? Did Gary retire?
Posted by IwoCPO from Sunny San Diego, bitches on 10/30/08 at 10:06 PM ET
good job Kopecky now lets capitalize
Posted by hankyspanky40 from Michigan on 10/30/08 at 10:06 PM ET
Alright PP, put us ahead!
Posted by Alex from Innisfail, Alberta on 10/30/08 at 10:06 PM ET

Errr wife not wide, ducking in case she sees this….. seriously.
Posted by MOWingsfan19 on 10/30/08 at 10:08 PM ET
When I saw Kopy with that puck in the slot, I thought “Great chance! Oh wait, that’s an 82, not an 81.” Oh well, least we get a PP…and then make it look like we’re having trouble playing five guys against Mike Grier (also a Detroiter).
Jesus.

Yar it is, Rumbear. And I’m due into work at 7.
I’m a sucker for punishment, is what I’m saying.
Gawd, but I hate Nickelback…

Ahoy MFers! The Sharks play by play announcer sounds like a really really polite guy, it’s kinda creepy.
Posted by cephalopod from Chicago...nope, still not over it. on 10/30/08 at 10:12 PM ET
Lebda’s getting knocked off the puck real easy. Does Uncle Mike think Meech would do any worse?
Posted by AndrewFromAnnArbor from Fortress Europe on 10/30/08 at 10:13 PM ET
Ceph… you talking about the little bald knob job Drew Remenada?
Posted by MOWingsfan19 on 10/30/08 at 10:13 PM ET
Apparently we’ve forgotten how to support the puck.
Posted by Nate A from Detroit-ish on 10/30/08 at 10:13 PM ET

Went to bed with a hot toddy (ba-dum-bum), but am now on fresh Sicilian lemonade. Yeah, my life is endless rock n’ roll.
Anyone else thinking we were lucky to get out of the first with the scoreboard blank?

I was willing the clock to count down faster. I just hope the Wings’ve got some in reserve for the next two periods.

Absolutely.

I’ll take the zip zip Andrew. Really, Like I said Conks Whipped Out.
He may prove to be one HELL of a bargain this season.
Posted by MOWingsfan19 on 10/30/08 at 10:19 PM ET
Oilers lost 3-1 to Bubba…weren’t they supposed to be big ‘n bad this year? And Minnesota was supposed to struggle. Shows what the MSM talking heads know.
I would give my firstborn not to see Torrey Mitchell in swim trunks in a pool ever again…
Posted by AndrewFromAnnArbor from Fortress Europe on 10/30/08 at 10:19 PM ET
And it’s Yuengling for me Mo.

hot toddy
Thats warm cider, rum n a cinnamon stick where I grew up?
Posted by MOWingsfan19 on 10/30/08 at 10:20 PM ET
At 750K, I think Conks has already shown us he’s one hell of a bargain. He’s outplayed both of Gary’s Flavor of the Year goalies (over twelve million locked up in Bulin and Huet? What were they thinking?)...anything else now is just gravy. Let’s hope he re-ups for next year.
Save the inflatable sharks!
Posted by AndrewFromAnnArbor from Fortress Europe on 10/30/08 at 10:22 PM ET
Headed for a Makers n Ginger… thanks to Kates inspiration earlier.
My sis is blonde with a red Zatta hat on.. just sayin. She’s almost as boisterous as me and she’s the reason I spilled beer on a bloke there and almost put my fist in place of his teeth before security reminded me to sit down…..
Posted by MOWingsfan19 on 10/30/08 at 10:24 PM ET
The D has been suspect this season for sure but they haven’t made anybody look as good as the Sharks did during those 20 minutes.
