If You Can’t Find An Implosion…

Well, well, well…when your team has no chance of making the playoffs, set your sights on the Wings.  That’s the MO of Blues apologist and Klessel groupie Andy Strickland.  Last year it was his prediction that the Wing room would “implode by Christmas.”

Now? Well now his “sources” are telling him Nick Lidstrom is going to be out longer than announced. Much longer.

Don’t believe the Red Wings when they say Nicklas Lidstrom is set to return in three weeks. He could barely skate off the ice after he was hit by Colorado Forward Ian Laperriere. I’m told Lidstrom could miss up to two months with knee and head injuries. We haven’t heard much about the head injury.

Wings GM, who I respect a ton, knows NHL clubs will hold him hostage at the deadline if they know Lidstrom is expected to miss two months.

Just as I did last year with the “implosion” story, I’ll email Andy and ask him to give us a bit more.  And just like last year, he’ll reply that his sources are just too important to him.  That his journalistic integrity would prevent him from revealing them, or anything more than what he posted at Dwayne’s Emporium of Swill.

For now…three weeks takes us to 9 March.  Let’s see if Nick makes deadline.

Wow…he’s really going out on a limb there. Considering previous injuries have typically lasted three times longer than expected or announced, he’s really set himself apart as an insider with that scoop.

My sources tell me Strickland is a tool.

C’mon DUKE, it is time to put this baby to bed until
we meed the Av’s (0-4-0 against the Wings this year) again next year.  The more time off for Lidstrom, the better he will be in the playoffs.

Worried about the Red Wings Defense ?

Don’t be….
With Rafalski out, and the Captain going down early against
the Av’s, the Wings defense finally got the ice time they needed
to be at the top of their game. I have seen this movie before…

Todd, I noticed your post a few minutes ago and now see your comment here… what “movie” are you referring to?

Sorry, I might be a bit dense right now (after all, I am at work), but I cannot cut through your analogy.

Nathan, the fans that are claiming the Wings are toast without Lidstrom are the same ones that made that claim when Homer and Zetterberg were out of the line-up.  The secondary players got all their ice time and shined.  When they returned to the line-up the Wings went into a slide…losing six in a row doesn’t begin to describe how horribly they played the four games leading into that streak.  The secondary players lost that ice time and played dead cold, while the top line had trouble producing.  Take a hard look at their GPG ave. before the 10 game streak, and during.  It all boils down to ice time.  When Dats or Zetterberg were out last year Lang played great, as soon as they returned his ice time was cut and he went stale.  For CHI this year he is 18 g, 25 a, 43 pts and a + 16.  He never finished in the (-) since 2001 That would be 5th in scoring in Detroit.  He is getting TOI time this year.  That was not the first time I saw that movie either.  If HockeyTownTodd tells you not to worry….Don’t worry.

So let me see if I have this straight.  The Wings were affected by the loss of Kronwall and Schneider last year, but you’re saying that if indeed Lidstrom is out any period of time we shouldn’t worry?

Why does Andy Strickland spend so much time trying to dig for dirt on the Wings?  I was under the impression he worked in St Louis.  He works for E, so thats all you have to consider when reading his comments.

Ah, I sort of figured that’s what you meant, I guess I just don’t remember the MSM writing them off at that point.

How many times did Manny have to shake the magic 8 ball for this one to float up?

Strickland lost all credibility with that BS speculation last year. That’s not even bringing into account his ties to a certain “wedding singer”.

I think he needs an entry in the glossary chief, not just for the implosion, but for general douchebaggery.

It’s not cause I’m a rabid Wings fan either, these MSM guys need to be put in check.

as for obscure movie references; “go ahead, find yourself a DJ, but tell me if he can shake like this”

The problem with Strickland is he wants to be a MSM but his affiliation with Hockey Buzz prevents him from doing so.

This may come as a surprise to you, but Hockey Buzz has a terrible reputation outside of the suckers who go there.

The kids that frequent that site can’t be helped, they still need a nipple to suck on, and who better than Dwayne to provide that nipple.
