Introducing “Bubba” To The World

I’m pretty sure Bubba doesn’t read the New York Times.  I feel pretty darn comfortable saying that.  I’m also fairly certain they’ve never visited PensBlog, because Bubba’s a little sensitive.

So I doubt they’ve had a chance to see the serious-minded comments we made when asked to preview the series at each of those spots.

NYT Slap Shots

Any history between these two teams?
Bubba’s been second fiddle (so to speak) to the Wings for 10 years. They’ve led a playoff series and lost. Led the division multiple times … and lost. Every game against Detroit is a “statement” game to Nashville, and yet they’ve made none. This series will be no different.

Do your fans have a special chant or song or motto for these playoffs?
The Wings marketing geniuses came up with, “Are you in?” Maybe they stole that from a Tennessee family reunion T-shirt.

I guess mainly because we understand the rules of society, where Bubba doesn’t. For the most part, we keep our hands off our relatives, don’t eat meat that’s been prepared on the shoulders of our nation’s freeways and we have much more depth from line one to four. Dan Ellis worries me a bit, but not enough to see this going any longer than five games. Nice story that Bubba made the playoffs. We’re happy for the less than one percent of Tennessee who have any idea what hockey is. But that’s where it ends…again.

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977.  No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y.  Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation.  There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature.  Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
