Perusing one of our Detroit dailys (or is it dailies?) this morning, just glancing, browsing, skimming. You know the drill. Above the fold, predictable MSU coverage a few days from the tournament. Not unexpected. Hard hitting feature on high school refs. Below: a column from Big Bob on the tournament and the drill down on public golf courses. Is there a hockey team in Detroit?
Nope. Must be a scheduling snafu. No game tonite folks. The Wings can’t be playing Bubba with the division on the line, right? I’m sure if they were the Detroit News would at least mention it on the Sports front.

Woops. My bad. Apparently there is a game tonite. Kulfan tells us so. Apparently he just doesn’t have the pull to warrant a spot above the shocking revelation that Rasheed Wallace gets the occasional technical.
But, in the News’ defense when you get writing like this from your beat reporters it’s tough to give them a prominent spot in the paper.
“That’s all it took to pull everyone together and get on the same page, (and) what we’ve been trying to do since Day 1,” Chelios said. “The next thing will be to hear a search (committee) and start looking for someone (to lead the NHLPA).”
There were allegations Saskin read union members’ e-mails.
Said forward Kyle Calder , on Sunday’s loss: “When you get on a roll, you can be a sluggish and think it’ll be easy.”
Because Calder’s quote, which would be fine read from a truck stop stall near The Gay, has plenty to do with the Saskin situation. Whatever.

The same apathy is shown on WDFN and 1270, it’s either NBA, Tigers spring training, or the tournament. It’s gonna take this team to get out of the 1st round to gain the front line talk of the Detroit sports media again.
