Jimmah Brings No Excuses While Jobu Brings The Curling Iron

After letting another lead slip through their fingers, this time allowing four unanswered goals by the Masshole’s Kings, the Red Wings should be embarrassed by their performance Saturday afternoon.
Typically, we’d be hearing Ozzie sound off that he felt good, but didn’t get all the bounces or luck to win the game. Deflect, deflect, deflect.
This season we have a new stud, Jimmah Howard, who is not only playing better than Ozzie, he is taking more responsibility than Elroy for his role in a Red Wings loss. The Perfect Human, however, won’t let Jimmah be blamed for the loss.
Howard said. “I didn’t think I had my best outing. I was very disappointed in how I played. You learn from your mistakes and now I have to rebound from it.’’
While Howard threw himself under the bus, this latest collapse had more to do with the defense’s inability to control the Kings around the net.
“It hurts even more when you’re up 3-0,’’ captain Nicklas Lidstrom said. “We came out with a good push, but then in the second (period) we didn’t play well enough in front of our net. They got a lot of pucks in there, they were crashing the net and we didn’t do a good enough job to clear the rebounds or take the players out of there.’’
Jimmah is taking responsibilty, and I dig that. Now the rest of the team also has to man-up and take responsibility for their roles in the failures this season. Some long hard talks with the man in the mirror. Everyone should be embarrassed. Including the fans.
The players are saying the right things, but that is little consolation as we keep our eyes nervously on the standings and RWBill’s spaghetti graphs. Right now we are in 9th place, still within striking range, thanks mainly to the terrible play of Calgary who shipped out half a dozen players last week in a desperate attempt to save their sinking ship.
The Red Wings’ ship is listing, but you won’t be seeing the same level of panic from Tick Tock. The Wings have all the pieces they need to win games. They just have to give a fuch about winning them.
Speaking of Red Wings’ pieces, Jobu left a few of them damaged once again on Saturday. Just when we thought the Chief had successfully put that little bitch 6 feet in the ground, Jobu comes back with a vengeance and red-hot curling irons to fuch us once again.
Ken Holland said Sunday that Tomas Holmstrom (bruised left knee) and Drew Miller (sore left ankle) both are expected to play Tuesday after leaving during the Kings game. Niklas Kronwall (knee) may also play against the Blues, and if nothing else, it’ll feature the long-awaited return of power forward Johan Franzen. Patrick Eaves (sprained left ankle) is doubtful.
If it wasn’t for bad luck with injuries, the Red Wings wouldn’t have any luck at all. Big Rig and the Angry Chipmunk just returned to us only to be snatched away like candy out of a baby’s hands.
Miss I-Just-Spoke-To goes on to update us on the Swedish Meatball of Confusion’s status:
...it is almost certain the Wings will soon clear Lilja after a yearlong absence due to concussion problems. Lilja’s conditioning stint in the minors runs through Friday, and Holland said he expects team doctors to clear Lilja. That means Holland will have to remove one body from the roster and about $1.2 million from the salary cap—options include trading Brett Lebda and putting Brad May on waivers.
Deep digging at its finest, bitches, Helene even busted out her finest capologist calculator to make that profound analysis. All the while we’ve been talking about this for at least a couple of weeks, here and on the 19’s other blogs. Once again, the Deep Diggers are bringing up the rear with cutting edge analysis. Way to go, bitches.
A2Y’s crack (smoking) team of interns have done some research and discovered the salary cap calculator of choice for the Deep Diggers:

About Abel to Yzerman
Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
