Just Another Game?

Interesting conversation going on in the comments here as to just how critical tomorrow night’s game in San Jose is.  I can tell you from experience that this is how I’ll determine the import:

If the Wings win, it’ll be a huge victory, one that signals a guaranteed 12th Cup and most likely a life-long supply of juice boxes.

If the Wings lose, the game will mean nothing.  A 3-hour bump in the road, and probably one I won’t even discuss on Sunday.

But that’s me.  How are the Sharks viewing a game that will determine who leads the Western Conference after it’s over?

San Jose Sharks

The Sharks players definitely know what the Red Wings represent.

“You’re always up for the defending Stanley Cup champs,” said Dan Boyle. “Most people are picking them to win it all over again.”

“This is a big test for us,” said McLellan. “We’ll find out where we are at. Their team has improved since the beginning of the year. In my opinion, they are the best team in the NHL.”

The Sharks acknowledge they were more than disappointed in the last matchup, a 6-0 defeat in Michigan.

“They certainly embarrassed us in their building,” said Boyle. “At the end of the day, it is still two points and we have to play better in these kinds of games.”

I found this to be nifty too.

Within the last few weeks, the Sharks have prominently hung a large photo of the Stanley Cup so players can see it on their way out to practice at Sharks Ice at San Jose.

“It’s not just for the players,” said McLellan. “It’s for the staff, the coaches and everyone involved in the organization.”

No more info provided as to which picture of the Cup it is.  What do you think?

This one?

Maybe, although this is probably a favorite of Joe Thornton’s.  ‘Cause of his number and all.

Or they could have gone with the Rockwellian approach.  I kinda dig this.

Ahhh.  Doesn’t matter. I’m sure Todd and the boys picked a winner.
