Yes. Multiple sources. Multiple. Credibility abounds. Take your pick.
As reported in Sunday’s Toronto Sun, word around the league suggests that the Leafs will only make a move in the GM position if they can land a star name such as Mark Messier, Ron Francis or Steve Yzerman.
“The Leafs need to have somebody with star power,” said an NHL executive to the Sun.
Star power? Larry Brooks has a suggestion.
Dialogue has resumed between Scotty Bowman and the board of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment aimed at working out a deal so the nine-time Cup-winning coach and one-time player personnel director would become the Toronto club’s president and director of hockey operations, Slap Shots has been told.

If all they want is a name, I hear Mike Milbury is available. 
I think they might be better off going with competence, though.

If they want a big name, as in one that has been in the headlines lately, they should go with Sean Avery.

It is just getting ridiculous.
True, the Laffs are a terrible team, as they have been for years. Their management stinks. Furthermore, nobody in the corporate power structure has the balls to fire Ferguson and company.
But for heaven’s sake, quit raiding the Wings. Go hire Kevin Lowe.
