Sigh of relief today. The ASS.G is done. We can stop talking about it. Stop obsessing about the shaft and the manner in which the tide has turned against two of the classiest players in the league, led by a little man with an agenda.
We can set it aside now, can’t we?
Well. Not really, since there’s always tomorrow in Columbus.
So, let’s get that out of the way.
As far as we know, the Wings will be missing four: Lidstrom, Datsyuk, Franzen and Stuart.
Where’s that leave us? Well. I guess the lines could look something like this, pending any word on a call up from Grand Rapids. I’ve heard nothing on that front. You? Let’s assume Helm’s coming up and maybe Kindl?
Zetterberg/Homer/Hudler
Filppula/Cleary/Hossa
Then what? Samuelsson, Draper, Maltby…then Kopecky centering the fourth with Helm and Meetch? Hell, why not bring up Downey and let him kick some Columbus ass for one night?
Or…why not Leino? Let’s see what he can do.
So, DC transplants. Who do you want to start tomorrow night? Because you know how Uncle Mike’s digging his rotation and if he sticks to it, tomorrow’s starter will also be Saturday’s. I’m hoping for Conklin. Or as Osrt would say, “give me the conk.”
Speaking of Saturday. It’s our first ever A2Y Transplant Get Together and it’s at Fado in DC.
