Oh, shut up. I’m just kidding. I know as well as you do that we’ve got plenty to celebrate and discuss before we start providing Tick Tock, architect of a Dynasty, with unsolicited and ignored advice.
I know at least three, if not 19, of you are expecting a tremendous, detail-rich, juvenile yet poignant, recap of Game 6 and the entire playoff. It’s coming, but not until tonite. I’ve got two months of work to catch up on in one afternoon. Sound familiar?
Oh hey. Notice anything different about the banner up above? Thanks Dub.

the only thing that could make this cup win better would be if you would stop blogging forever.
you’re terrible.

Still waiting to see if anyone else caught that Ozzie quote from Local 4 last night where he flat-out bashed the officiating and implied that the league wanted Pittsburgh to win.

Thank you. Paul has it on the front page now too. Ozzie’s pretty funny, IMO.

Hey Jennifer, Are you from S.C.S.?
Nope. Not sure what that is.

I, too, am longing to return to Michigan. It’s just not the same riding out celebrating with no one understanding why.
Amen. Being a transplant while the Deeetroit party is going on is pretty hard.

I came in to work this morning and was talking with my supervisor when his boss walked by - with old beat up Red Wings cap on head. I laughed, and my boss said, “if you need something maybe you should ask today, since he’s in a good mood.”
I’m good, though.
Posted by Baroque from Michigan on 06/05/08 at 03:00 PM ET
Katie, thanks! That’s fantastic…and that’s why nobody ran with Ozzie and Mac’s comments…they were joking and kinda making fun of reporters in general.
Loved the bit about Drake falling asleep a couple of times in the 3rd overtime.

No problem! This is probably a bit out of place, but this clip keeps cracking me up. Plus, I’m sure Dats is feeling quite good today:

katiephd, thanks so much for those links! I’ve been waiting all day to see Mac interview Ozzie, and I was not disappointed.

Holy crap, Katie. You’re my new best friend. (My ipod = 51% James Brown, 49% other stuff that wishes it was James Brown.)
That clip rocked my little world.

Yep, I noticed the 2007-08 Stanley Cup is not listed.

I see that now that A2Y has conquered the RW bloggers, and won the Stanley Cup… the next step is to put eHarmony out of business.
No doubt about it, only a matter of time before hockeychick and RWBill connect.
Hey RWBill,

I thought I was going to be able to go back to being productive again. I’ve been sitting watching youtube videos of the game and after game partying and interviews all day. Sheesh.
Maybe next week I’ll be able to get back to reasonable productivity.

I’m with you jennifer. although i was better today, i KNOW i smell like stale budweiser and tequila that went everywhere last night. and you just can’t work with that…

You’d think I’d be embarrassed about that today
Why be embarrassed? It was a noble gesture and offer, if more than a little inscrutable. No man is bigger than when he kneels to offer oral sex. And of course, the woman who refuses you does not deserve you. I wear a button that says “Ask me about my tongue.”
(Just trying to do my part here, so they can save on the eHarmony registration fees.)
Summer of Sundin? Now THAT is intriguing!
My new campaign. He’s a class player and deserves a Cup, and that trashy Laffs organization isn’t going to get it for him. We deserve another repeat. It’s a match made in heaven (or eHarmony, if it had anything to do with hockey). Besides, he’d fit in great with the rest of the Holland “Swedish Monopoly” plan. And add some zing, as Emeril might say, to our second line with the (relative) youngsters. Bam! (If we sign him, that’ll be his nickname.)
Believe it or not, but gray skies and snow cover makes me smile.
You can’t deny that a good blanket of snow makes ANYTHING look better. Even a grim post-industrial wasteland. It’s easy to deal with bone-chilling cold when the world is a little more beatiful. And I miss it like crazy with each passing year that I live without it. Joni Mitchell had a point, apologies to the James Brown fans. Put “Big Yellow Taxi” on your iPod and listen. “Don’t it always seem to go that you don’t know what you got ‘til it’s gone?”
I thought I was going to be able to go back to being productive again.
My productivity’s still in the crapper. I nearly had to fudge my time spent today at work—but hell, the customer pays for it, so my boss would probably give me a bonus for fudging time. And as for getting my sleep patterns back to normal, well…it’s late at night and I’m still posting! What does that tell you?
Next week, I’ll stop thinking about #11 (Cup and Cleary) and get my shiz back in order.
Yeah right.

Man wouldn’t that just crush Cherry? Sundin comes to the Wings and the Wings repeat with another Swede?
No man is bigger than when he kneels to offer oral sex.
Oral sex? I just wanted her to sit on my face!
I wear a button that says “Ask me about my tongue.”
I can see that I had absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about. That is just plain evil.

5 X 3 Dec 9, 2005. Found this photo on my Flikr photo archives. Note who’s killing THIS 5 x 3: Maltby, Chelios, is that LiljaForever?
Note: This is the last time the Red Wings have been to Washington. It will be 3 years next season and don’t even know for sure if they’re coming next year.

BTW, not a bad seat eh? First row glass, today a tank of gas will cost you the same. The puck moves at incredible speeds at ice level.

Not a great series for Malkin, “league MVP.”
I have a hard time believing he didn’t suffer some sort of upper body injury that just plain makes it hard to move. for his production to essentially stop on a dime like it did makes it hard to believe it was anything else. I mean, if it just started in the Final, we could say it was stifling Wings defense…but it started (or stopped, I guess) before that.
Posted by PaulinMiamiBeach on 06/05/08 at 06:42 PM ET
Paul, I think it happened in the Philly series. He was a marked man in that series. He took an especially hard hit in game 2(I forget from who), and thats about when his production dropped off.
Might’ve been an injury, tho he looked physically fine to me. I think its more likely he was gunshy. He didn’t really drive his way like he did prior, and he seemed a bit anxious to get rid of the puck when opponents were bearing down on him, particularly at the blue line.
Still, good for us, and probably a good reason the Kronner/Stu match up worked pretty well against him.
I still can’t get over what a great series that was. And as we’ve heard several times now, this team is just going to be deeper next year. Can’t wait.
I’ll end with my favorite image of the sacred chalice.

Jennifer, right there with you. It feels like the last day of school…cleaning out your locker, kinda just saying goodbye to the year. Everyone’s pretty much hanging around because it’s what they’ve done since the beginning of last Fall.
Meanwhile, my clients keep calling wanting stuff. Selfish pricks.
Posted by Gabriel from San Diego, CA on 06/05/08 at 07:08 PM ET
Fantastic photo! I’m going to steal it for sure!
Hard to believe it was all mental with Malkin, I mean mental after he got drilled in the previous series.

Damn you that is exactly what it feels like, the last day of school, now I’m really going to be in a funk tomorrow. I just checked last minute deals on Travelocity and I can fly to Detroit from Richmond at 0530 and get there thru Philly at 930, in time to get to the parade, only $250 bucks with car, return Sunday.
I am really tempted as I’m kind of going emo now that the glow is wearing off. My 16 year old daughter would probably love me to leave for the weekend, high school exams over it’d be party central.

Amen to that! The most I can hope for here is a “light dusting.” It still makes the world around me look so much better than the same ol’ dull stuff I see every other day of the year.
I think I made myself homesick again. I will kiss the ground when I finally move back to Detroit.

Well, my boss made some comment today about “being on the internet too much” so that’s why I wasn’t around today. Daughter and I looked at each other tonight and said, “Wow, it feels weird to know there is no hockey on.” Still really giddy from the win and then a bit of sadness/relief that the season is over.

Waiting for the bus home tonight with my Yzerman sweater on and a guy leaned out his car window and yelled, “Let’s Go Red Wings!” Pure joy!

“Wow, it feels weird to know there is no hockey on.”
That’s why tonight the man and I went to see our Cyclones win their game 6! Kelly Cup Champions! My two teams are champions within 24 hours of each other. Freaking awesome. Now I feel complete.
I’ll have photos soon.
