Kevin Allen: Mac Looks Better Than Expected

I missed this in the Freep yesterday, not sure if you guys did too.

Interview on WDFN with Kevin Allen, his weekly deal, and he expects Mac to play a game next week, guarantees he’ll drop ‘em when he does play and said his performance has been surprisingly good so far.

I underestimated the drive he would have to return. I’ve talked to a number of people who’ve said that McCarty has looked pretty darn good in Grand Rapids. He’s really determined to come back, and play and give the Red Wings a role player like they had before, and if he’s certainly capable of doing that, who knows, maybe he can play in the playoffs. I had my reservations early on, but the reports I’m getting on him are that he is making every effort to be the player that he was before.

More...including views on Stuart, the young Dmen, Franzen and Hasek.

So much run over a borderline 4th line scrub. I guess the bars and casinos around Detroit are happy to have him back. Should be a big boost to the economy.

Interesting thing about Stuart. Wow, Allen, way to go out on a freaking limb there. Stuart lessens the need for Chelios? Ya think?

Yeah, and I suppose getting Sidney Crysby would lessen the need for Mark Hartigan to score too, wouldn’t it?

Ah, Thhommmyy returns with yet more wisdom. Gosh, it sure is comforting to know that a Dive “fanatic” cares so much about the Wings. But if my whole life was wrapped up in a pathetic team like the Dive, I guess I’d be hanging out here at A2Y too.

Oh, and as for your new blog, golly geez, that sure is somethin’. Over here you tout the Dive as the deepest team in the league. Over there, well, not so much.

But, hey, feel free to drop in any time and enjoy hanging out with real hockey fans. All 19 of us really appreciate your interest. Ass.

I never said we were the deepest team in the league. I said we were deeper than the Wings. That’s not saying much, half the teams in the league are deeper than the Wings.

See, unlike you worthless pukes, I don’t feel the need to fluff up my team at every turn. I actually pride myself on being just as realistic about my team as I am the rest of them.

As a result, I get blasted by both you idiots as well as Avs idiots. That tells me I am dead on.

*yawn*

I get blasted because I don’t go along with your idiot nonsense. Same with idiot Avs nonsense. Reality’s great, you should visit sometime.

Right, Thhommyy boy, reality is definitely your realm…as in “I am the most well-known and notorious Avs fan on the planet.”

And, yes, that statement is extremely “pompous”. But, hey, we’d expect no less from you. Ass.

I *am* the most well-known Avalanche fan there is. Who is more well-known? There’s no ego involved. Every Avs or Wings fan on the internet knows who I am. If they don’t know me as Thomas, they know me as one of my other handles. It’s not as if I am making an unrealistic claim.

It’s not like I said I am the most well-liked Avs fan there is.

BTW, the “Thhommy” thing is stupid. It doesn’t bother me, it just makes you and the other idiots look really stupid when you do it. I understand it’s supposed to be a gay “lisp,” but it’s just idiotic, bigoted, homophobic, and worst of all, it’s just not funny.

But then, what else should I expect from a fan base made up entirely of mouth-breathers from the metropolitan area with the worst school system this side of Sub-Saharan Africa.

the metropolitan area with the worst school system this side of Sub-Saharan Africa.

Following up a critique of homophobia with an explicitly racist comment is not very effective. You’ve just likened a 90% Black city to Africa while noting the lack of functioning educational systems in both. Wonderful. That both are the result of a long history of racist economic practices, domestic and international (think colonialism), doesn’t matter I suppose. No, it’s just the inherent backwardness of Detroiters. As I suggested to another poster, perhaps you can make fun of New Orleans and Rwanda next.

In more interesting news, does anyone know where George is? The Snapshots blog has been eerily idle for the past few days. Does that bastard think he has vacation time or something?

Check out the NHL.com’s Frozen Moment when you have a chance.

It’s a nice large image of Franzen’s as-he-is-falling-down-goal against the Blues. Good stuff.

I said the “metropolitan area,” dimwit, not Detroit. The metropolitan area is predominantly white, and I was more referring to the schools OUTSIDE Detroit than within it (as most inner cities have bad schools, so that goes without saying). The Detroit METROPOLITAN AREA, which includes the trailer trash subdivision you grew up in, has awful schools.

So, sorry, but your ignorant assertion that my post was racist was not even close to being on target. Nice try, idiot.

Of course it isn’t.

But it’s the most effort a feeble troll deserves.

Oh, congrats on the new Blog.  I’m sure it’ll be a huge success.

Ugh.  I’m sick of reading the comments here now.  And to think, they used to actually be enjoyable to read.

The troll’s comments have boiled down to egotistical vitriol, have absolutely no merit or value any more, not even for comedy.  They’re not even related to hockey any more.  I still maintain that his only purpose is to drum up blog visits.

Eh.  I don’t view Thomas as much more than a fly.  If I saw him in the flesh, I’d swat him.  Otherwise, he’s not there for much more than to be ignored.  Bzzzzz…

Check D-Mac’s stats in GR, especially his points, in light of how many games he’s played and how offensively-challenged the Griffs are at the moment.  I’m just happy to have him back, and to see him get his life in order, and to have a guy of his caliber to, as Downey says, keep the flies off, but…If he can whack in a goal or two, set up a few plays like he used to…Well then, it’ll be just like the D-Mac of old, riding shotgun for a few shifts with the skill players.  And I’m sure you remember that the D-Mac of old was worth having around.

Baroque, you’re right. Those are indeed the only two syllables one needs here.

Buzz, I agree that the comments sections are getting poisoned and are much less enjoyable to read.

So let me end my interaction with Thomas on these notes:

1) A “metropolitan area” by definition includes the urban center.

2) If your use of that term doesn’t include Detroit proper, then you are referring to some of the wealthiest zip codes in the country, world renowned private schools, and a top five University.

3) The link to Africa was the main point of contention. If you do want to make this comparison, then apartheid South Africa is the closest thing available.
