Khan(!) Feeling The Pressure: Reports Hank, Hasek Arrive In Hockeytown

I guess it goes without saying that Ansar Khan(!) saw the writing on the blog wall. Just minutes after I’d named Bruce MacLeod as this year’s deep digger captain (a move I reversed moments later after heavy pressure from outraged A2Y readers), the MLive Wing beat writer put down the red wine long enough to grace us with a few lines of prose.
Henrik Zetterberg is healthy and Dominik Hasek is hungry. The two arrived from Europe over the weekend and joined most of their teammates for an informal practice Monday at Joe Louis Arena in preparation for the start of training camp on Friday. Zetterberg skated with the team, Hasek took the ice after most of them were done.
According to Khan(!), the former and current captain, Hank Zetterberg’s fully recovered from back and wrist injuries.
“Right now it’s not bothering me,’’ he said. “I’m going into camp feeling really positive. Things can happen, but right now I feel good.’‘
Zetterberg said he withdrew from a couple of charity games in Sweden over the summer not because his back was hurting but because he hadn’t started skating yet.
“I thought it wasn’t right to myself and the team that my first time on the ice I go play a game, so I told them I couldn’t go,’’ Zetterberg said. “I think the media in Sweden blew it up a little bit. It wasn’t a big thing.’‘
Nah, we blew it up Hank. We blew it up big time.
Sorry ‘bout that. It’s so unlike me to be reactionary. Just an exception, really.
Meanwhile, back to Khan(!), forever your Digger captain. As he said above, Dom’s hungry. As hungry as I was earlier tonite when I ate a block of cheese? No, but still hungry.
“I am hungry. I feel like I have something to prove to myself,’’ Hasek said. “Last year was nice. I want to repeat what I did during the regular season and be ready for the playoffs. ... It’s something that motivates me again.’‘
He said this is “probably’’ his final season, but he won’t make that decision until after the year.
Ok. Just let us know whenever. No big deal.
Oh, and hey…the Osgood puck bunnies can rejoice once again. He liked the new Reebok jerseys, said they fit well. Said he’s going to where one to Greektown tomorrow night along with some legwarmers. No, he didn’t really say that.
“They fit really nice, they’re light, they feel great,’’ Chris Osgood said. “I was pleasantly surprised. Last year they were really tight and it wasn’t comfortable.’‘

About Abel to Yzerman
Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
