Khan(!): Mule Can Begin Workouts

Good news from the Deep Digger captain,

Update from Wednesday’s morning skate: Wings general manager Ken Holland said forward Johan Franzen (concussion-like symptoms) has been given the OK to resume off-ice workouts.

“We’ve talked to Franzen’s agent and a couple of doctors. He’s been given the green light, not to do full workouts, but he can ride the bike and do some things,’’ Holland said. “Hopefully he’ll ride the bike and feel good, we’re monitoring the headaches. He’s been cleared to take a step forward.’‘

Khan(!) also reports that should Detroit and Pittsburgh both take care of business in the minimum games allowed, we’re on for Tuesday.

Plagiarism is a vice, Chris.  It’s a frigging vice my friend.  I’m not proud of it, but as you said…it’s how I roll.

Motherfu**er.

Thank God.  I wonder if they still need to follow the “seven days after” rule on playing.  If not, we could see Franzen for game one.  Hope, hope.

I know this is silly, but does a five game series mean more to us than a sweep since it increases the chances of Franzen coming back for the finals?  Weird theories like this and Ilitch wanting an extra revenue of game tickets are usually really stupid, but it popped into my mind while read this post.

Also, the Wall Street Journal has an interesting piece on the attendance thing.

Just to make certain as to KHANS! accuracy, we have confirmation from “The HighLander”, note that Bruce has quote from Holland that Mule can begin skating on Friday:

General manager Ken Holland said this morning that Johan Franzen has been cleared by doctors to work on his conditioning. Franzen missed Games 2 and 3 with headaches—something that he had been playing with for at least a week.

Franzen is now allowed to work on the bicycle. Holland said that Franzen won’t be skating on his own until Friday at the earliest.

Trust me, Chief, I’m not hatin’ on you, as the kids would say.  We all know the rules around here and gladly accept them!!

If Franzen can skate on Friday that would be huge.  A) because he’s obviously awesome and B0 because we’ll need depth down the middle, since Filpulla’s knee is obviously bothering him.  Macleod reported he’s sitting out the morning skate…....

Anything other than hearing the “post concussion symptoms” and “he’s not playing tonight” is indeed good news. The cloak of secrecy lifted.
Anyone know when the obligatory 7 day time period stats or started?
The way he played game 1 & the last 2 games against the Dives, someone outta hit him over the head so he’s got a headache every time he plays.

Chief,
You up in his grill cause he lives in Bubba Jr land? LOLOL

Probably, since whatever it is it seems to be mild, they will play it by ear.  See if his headaches come back with exercise and go from there.

TDeters, I’d go for a Wings sweep and the ECF to go five or more games.  Then the Wings, including Mule, get some time to rest and recuperate from the various bangs and bruises, while the Pens and Flyers whale on each other and the winner staggers into the Final.

That take your fancy?

I’m cocksure the Wings will have hubris if they win this game tonight, trying to chase the NHL playoff record of 11 straight wins.  The disappointment in case they fail with the 11th win will add on to the burden of a game one home loss versus the ECF winners.

We’re better off losing tonight and starting on a clean sheet in case Wings make it to the finals.

Disagree. Ozzie didn’t even know about his tying Sawchuck’s record (again) and didn’t bat and eye when he was told.

This is one of the most focused Wings teams in recent memory, very reminiscent of the 97-98 teams. Yzerman didn’t touch the Western conference championship trophy and I don’t expect Nick will either. They’re not concerned about anything except the Cup right now; we’ve already noted that Drake and Cheli will eat babies if necessary because they know this may be their last chance for a (or another) Cup. Too many veterans and too much Babbles––he of the intestine penetrating eyes.

Wing win 3-1 tonight.

You’re probably right!

I’m too much of a cynic though still, from all previous disappointments.  Too scared by the thought of what a loss would do to the team.

It would be great to not lose another game at all, for sure.
