Khan(!): Osgood Sitting Again

Johan Franzen’s in a cast and won’t play until at least Sunday against the Dive, who currently sit in 14th place in the Western Conference, just one point ahead of the pathetic—yet still bitter—St. Louis Blues. Nothing you read the rest of this post has anything to do with the Dive or the Blues, but I thought it a nice time to mention how well each team is doing.
Meanwhile, back to the Stanley Cup Champions.
According to the Deep Digger Captain, Ansar Khan(!), Franzen’s suffering from bruised tendons. Precautionary. Sunday maybe.
Now, on to the good stuff.
Chris Osgood’s getting Conk blocked…again.
I haven’t seen any quotes from anybody yet, but you can bet Ozzie and his Uncle Mike won’t be sharing Fresca’s in the room this afternoon. I thought starting Conklin two consecutive days over the weekend was surprising. In fact, I thought it would be Osgood Saturday then a Conk job on Sunday. So, holding Osgood out again tonite?
I’d never presume to question Mike Babcock. Oh, I used to, but I don’t anymore. But if I had that inclination, I might be wondering if this little game he’s got going with Osgood isn’t going to have some sort of negative impact should we need him down the road.
But since I don’t have any inclination like that, I’m just going to sit back and take it for granted that the literate one has a handle on this.
For the record: Ty Conklin’s proven himself in games that brought as much pressure as any played in a regular season. He’s done real well. Well enough to convince me that should he start in the playoffs? I’d be ok with that.

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
