I’m late, not Hank. I’m sure you’ve all read this over on the varsity page (like Malik, AlanaH is a posting machine), but somebody seems to think Zetterberg’s pretty good.
The inaugural TSN NHL Player of the Year featured a showdown between playoff co-scoring leader and MVP, Zetterberg, and regular season scoring leader and MVP, Alexander Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals. Zetterberg prevailed with 97 points including 13 first-place votes, while Ovechkin was runner up with 81 points and 12 first-place nods. Red Wings captain Nicklas Lidstrom finished third with 38 points including three first-place votes.

Forget the Red Wings shoes and Stanley Cup hats and t-shirts - what this team needs is a Detroit Red Wings shopping cart to carry all their stuff.

Agree with both comments. As far as production on the ice goes, with a President’s Trophy (and therefore a division title as well), a Stanley Cup, the Conn Smythe, the Jennings, the Selke, the Lady Bing, the Norris, the TSN award, and nominees for the Adams, the Selke, and the Masterson, this might be the most decorated year in Wings history.
Between AO and the Wings, its a miracle anybody else won anything at all.

question on the voting. I know for the individual trophies the playoffs don’t count. but do they vote before the playoffs start? hard to imagine that they could block it out of their minds completely if they were to vote after the Finals were over.

About Abel to Yzerman
Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
