LB: Kick Out The Demons, MoFaux, The Drive To The Playoffs Goes Full Throttle

The Wings resume their drive to the playoffs tonight against the Dive in Denver. And from tonight onward, the playoff drive has to be pedal-to-the-metal intense. No looking behind us or waiting for others to move out of our way. It is time to bully our way through the standings and into our rightful place in the playoffs.
Our roster is almost completely healthy. Franzen has had some time to condition the past couple of weeks in the tournament that NBC forgot to cover. The Angry Chipmunk, Holmstrom, is back and as pissed off as ever. Kronwall is back in health, as is Cleary after giving us a scare this week.
There are a couple of soldiers who will miss tonight’s battle. Filppula has been frequenting Vancouver’s east side finding salacious crack whores to celebrate his bronze medal, and has suffered a sprained groin. Eaves is also out due to that ankle sprain he suffered before the break.
Thanks to Okie for his roster updates in the GDT today.
And one more soldier will be out of the battle for a while, but I love that SOB even more for it.
Kirk Maltby decided to take one for the Organ-I-zation and is undergoing shoulder surgery to fix a nagging problem. Proving he is a Red Wing for life, despite numerous calls by some to have him traded/waived the past couple of years, Maltby is stepping aside to give the Wings salary cap room allowing Lilja to return.
In perhaps the biggest surprise this season, Mickey Redmond was the first to reveal that Lilja, our lovable lug, is on the mend and ready to return to the lineup. So shocking was Mickey’s announcement during a game in January, even the Deep Diggers were left reeling. But the 19 knew better than to doubt Mickey and excitement grew immediately. Before he was sidelined with a bleeding brain, Lilja was having his best season as a Red Wing. The torches and pitchforks were put away in 2008-2009 and the mob who once called for his head on a spike, were amazed at how much his game had improved in one off season.
Well this has been one helluva off-season for Andreas. And the 19 are set to welcome him back, wondering if he can save our third defence pairing from the mediocrity that they have been all season, or if he will return to the 2007-2008 form that frustrated us so much and will now complete the Trio of Turd with Meech and Lebda.
The rest of this season must be aggressive and ruthless for the Red Wings to guarantee their playoff spot. Hard hitting and unrelenting the Wings must absolutely dominate all areas of the ice. Nothing else will do.
To kick off the full throttle playoff drive, I am kicking out the demons with Detroit punk legends, the MC5.
Drinks will be flowing all night in the Hasek Club Car. If your cup is empty may it be full again, bitches.
Let’s Go Red Wings!!!!!

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
