LB: The Wings Go To LA Seeking A Surgically Enhanced Victory

The Wings return to the land of sunshine and silicone for yet another afternoon weekend game.

Thanks to Gary. Ass’ schedule it is the third weekend in a row we play an afternoon game.

But I am in a very bad mood about our last game, and that means today’s LB will feature some nipping and tucking of song choices.

Kronwall is out, as is May who is replaced by Maltby today.  I know this because our good friend Jeff from OK told me so in today’s GDT.  You see, the past couple of days I haven’t been able to stomach any work of our Diggers.  I don’t need drooling analysis of what we all know is a lack of heart and commitment on the Red Wings.  I’ll stick to reading the 19 and their blogs for insight with some venom.  God bless them all, each and every one of them.

After the amazing victory in San Jose to drop a turd in Anaheim has everybody pissed off.  And rightfully so.

So until the Wings start winning games, as we know they are capable of doing, there will be no musical selections for the Live Blog.

If the Wings make us suffer, we shouldn’t sugar coat the LB’s with fun musical choices.  It is the homestretch of the season now, the time for fun and games is over.  It is time to put the skate to the throat and press down.  Bitches.

Because I don’t give a *#$%@& what team it is, how bad the team is, or who the *#$%@& you are.  There is absolutely nothing ok with blowing those kinds of leads this many times.  Even though we have seen it so many times this year, it still blows my mind every time I see it.  It’s like I think “hey, maybe this time it’ll be different, and I honestly thought it would be.  We definitely outplayed them in the first and the third periods.  That third period, the ice was tilted and our forecheck was relentless, and of course they just happen to squeak a goal in during a small lull on the onslaught.  I just can’t *#$%@& believe it.

Got home just in time to watch the final 1:27 of the game, just after their final goal. Sooo, I’m gonna go find the neo-Nazi quarter of Berlin and tell one of them that their mother’s vagay is sloppy; should be more fun than reading that Homer, Eaves and Miller are hurt.

Good luck to you Mr. Leino. Have fun with Progner fisichs.

Why was Howard down that early?

Posted by DetroitHockey on 02/06/10 at 06:23 PM ET

Because he had to respect the potential shot to the short side. Why was the King’s forward able to walk out front is a better question.

Jimmy is a rookie and it’s quite realistic he’s starting to fade a bit, but shit defensive coverage is shit defensive coverage no matter who we have in goal. Get Ozzie in, give a Jimmy a break and stop turning the damn puck over so much.

I hate to do this, but lemme try.
Remember, the race is UP, not to the right.
Wings 6 points in 8 games, .375 P%.
May have to drop LAK and PHX off the chart, they are separating too far from mediocrity and the losers, but wanted to show the effect of their simultaneous 6 game win streaks.

After CGY completed their dumping of 4 players including Fanooph and Jokinen they have put up 5 of 6 points to jump 2 games ahead of Detroyet.

Also, with all those teams now nipping at Detroit’s heels, another week like the last one and by the Olympic break the Wings could easily be at the bottom of the pile in 12th place.

Here’s the stupid thing, the Wings broadcast continues to talk about keeping their eyes on and maintaining contact with the Kings for 4th and 5th place.  Is it just me or is this ridiculously out-of-touch with 2010 season reality?
The Wings have huge problems in the balance.  They will very soon be at the tipping point of dropping almost irreparably out of playoff contention, and FSD keeps talking about focusing on the Kings who were 9 points ahead of them before the loss yesterday.

WTF, are these guys just F’ing stoopid, out of touch, stuck in the past, or being paid by The Corporation to try and distract Wings fans from realizing what is really going on and the actual precarious position the Wings’ season is in right now???

F- Me, why do I do this to myself?  After this brilliant week the Wings are in a hole.  The first column lists final points for the season.  The second column shows what points % the Wings had to win to get to those final points when there were 27 games remaining.  The third column shows what the Wings must win now with 24 games remaining.

What’s your guess to be safely at #8, 94? 96?  98 for 7th?  They have to play .600 just to get to 93.  What will 93 get them, a tee time?  That’s .600.

Whatever your guess, now just 3 games later it’s a steeper climb.  Last 8 games playing at .375.

Thanks for sharing, you’re welcome.

4338003492_9971485b42_o.jpg

Yeah, I know, a 3 or 4 game win streak could really change things.  Let me know when that happens and I’ll be overjoyed to update.  We’ll look again at Olympic break.  Right now I’d be happy if by then they are still in close contact with 8th or 7th place.

Sorry, I realized that.  I was trying (not very well mind you) to say that this season is on the precipice of being tossed away.  Looking at the injuries and the fact that the Wings will stand pat at the trade deadline plus the sorry state of the defensive style I am no longer optomistic about making the playoffs.  I remember earlier in the year when people were jumping all over Jimmy D for saying this was a rebuilding year and the Wings might not make it to the second season.  Guess he knows a lot more than us arm-chair GM’s eh?

Posted by calquake on 02/07/10 at 01:33 PM ET

Note Caps second goal. Player forces his way to the front of the net Coming around the wing, flips a shot in and knocks in the rebound. Wings too often just take the easy way and circle harmlessly behind the net and throw the puck all the way back to the point where the shot never gets thru. Wings consistently fail to muscle in shots instead choose to throw the puck back instead of jamming.
