LB: The Wings Go To LA Seeking A Surgically Enhanced Victory

The Wings return to the land of sunshine and silicone for yet another afternoon weekend game.

Thanks to Gary. Ass’ schedule it is the third weekend in a row we play an afternoon game.

But I am in a very bad mood about our last game, and that means today’s LB will feature some nipping and tucking of song choices.

Kronwall is out, as is May who is replaced by Maltby today.  I know this because our good friend Jeff from OK told me so in today’s GDT.  You see, the past couple of days I haven’t been able to stomach any work of our Diggers.  I don’t need drooling analysis of what we all know is a lack of heart and commitment on the Red Wings.  I’ll stick to reading the 19 and their blogs for insight with some venom.  God bless them all, each and every one of them.

After the amazing victory in San Jose to drop a turd in Anaheim has everybody pissed off.  And rightfully so.

So until the Wings start winning games, as we know they are capable of doing, there will be no musical selections for the Live Blog.

If the Wings make us suffer, we shouldn’t sugar coat the LB’s with fun musical choices.  It is the homestretch of the season now, the time for fun and games is over.  It is time to put the skate to the throat and press down.  Bitches.

Wow, just saw the winner and the Ovie breakaway goal too. Three goals and an assist. Franchise.

Washington wins the Cup! Well, maybe not yet. The game lived up to the hype, though.

I hope WSH can do that in the playoffs. We’d totally be able to take WSH in a seven game….wait…we have to do what to make the playoffs?

Fuch.

Players that some A2Y for some reason hate but would instantly make the Wings substantially better.

Ovechkin
Pronger
Shane Doan
Ryan Getzlaf

All share one characteristic… A Nasty Edge with the physical ability to back it up.

That was a tuough one to take. Pens blow a 4-2 lead. Sort of a statement game by Ovechkin.
Well at least now I can watch Puppy Bowl VI. I think they have bunny cheerleaders this year. And the feline halftime show is always a blast.

I like Ovechkin and Doan.  I don’t remember anyone here bashing Ovie, but whatever, I have a camel’s brain.  (Unless Camels are really smart for some reason, in which case I have a camel’s toe for a brain.)

Those other two guys can choke themselves unconscious while having sex in a closet though.

I was betting on a PIT PP in OT since the Pens obviously brouht their own referees.  Only justice that their own high stick in OT cost them the game.

Good one on CBC right now, with the 3rd still yet to play.

I was waiting for the Pens to complain, again, about the delay on Ovie’s hat trick.

You have camel toe? Wow dude. I’m rethinking this slumber party idea.

But, yea, Ovie is an arrogant, passionate, reckless, effective player; that screams A2Y. Doan is a good dude who likes to shite on us.

Progner can be effective but is too big of a douche bag to ignore. Same with Getzlaf; great talent overshadowed by douchiness. Too bad.

I thought we all planned on adopting the Caps for the playoffs :(

Probably still will. I wonder what the playoffs look like from a psych hospital. Comfortable I’m sure.

You mean Pens blew a 4-1 lead.

I wish Ovie and Crosby would just drop the gloves so Ovie could finally and convincingly end the argument once and for all.  CLEARLY the better player.

“Oh, hell no. He totally had intent to blow before the ball crossed the line. What do you mean that’s not a rule? BUT IT MAKES TOTAL FUCHING SENSE!!”

Glad the Saints won. Manning and the Colts will get more chances to cement their legacy. A magical year for the Saints is awesome to see.

Almost full team tomorrow. Nice (or not, since we were better with the Detroit Red Griffins).

Thinking forward, and seeing the lines from the Sweden games, that’s how I would play (considering everyone healthy):

Franzén-Datsyuk-Heolmstrom
Cleary-Zetterberg-Bertuzzi
Miller-Filppula-Williams
Draper-Helm-Eaves

Lidstrom-Ericsson (he’s good only with Lids)
Rafalski-Kronwall
Stuart-Lilja

Meech and Maltby healthy scratches, Lebda and May out.

Would use Howard/Osgood like 13-8 post-Olympics.

Can we win 31 pts in 24 games like this? It seems so.

I like it, the only change I would make is to make either Helm or Filppula play the wing on the 3rd line with Miller moving down to the 4th.  I’d probably make Flip the winger since the centerman has to do a lot more moving around in both zones and Helm’s speed is fantastic for that role (although Filppula is no slouch on the accelerometer either).  He could work the puck out and spring Flip on some breakaways.  I mean, it could work the other way around, but tell me honestly which of those two would you rather see going in on the goalie alone?  I mean, either way, that would be a fun line to watch.

JJ, I see what you mean, and love the idea, but Uncle Mike is stubborn as hell and said he plans on having Dats-Z-Flip-Helm as centers.

As for the breakaways, I prefer having Filppula running free on full zone rushes, while Helm is better on those two or three strides where the puck is willed through the goalie.

I’m still waiting to see Zetterberg/Datsyuk/Helm.

yeah, I know they’re all centers.  as usual, the Wings are heavy on centers.  I don’t really care, play them together.  at least Helm with Datsyuk or Zetterberg.  IMO he has earned some time with guys like that, so we can see what Helm is really capable of.

Yeah thanks for the correction. I must’ve been thinking about the third period lead they blew. Excuse, reason? I don’t know. Anyway, still a tough one to lose.

IMO, Ovechkin has the best shot in the league by a big margin. It’s probably the best all-time. His release is the quickest. And the amount of force his gets on his shot is so amazing because he doesn’t lose any accuracy which is very unusual for a hard shot.
