LB: Wings Promenade Through Edmonton

The Wings return from spring break in Kelowna, BC, and face an Edmonton squad that has been fuched by Jobu even worse than we have this season.  Not to mention last season, and the season before that.  Let’s face it, Edmonton is a cursed city, and the Wings would be best to promenade through Edmonton as quickly as possible with another WIN tonight.

While the media have been regaled with stories about golf and ski-dooing, our crack (smoking) team of A2Y interns have uncovered the real story about the Wings spring break.

Filpulla reveals how he spent the last few days in Kelowna:

Rollin down the street, smokin indo, sippin on gin and juice
Laid back with my mind on winning and winning on my mind

Apparently the Mountain River Puck Bunnies have been taking care of Osgood as well.  He has been silent while Jimmah gets another start.  It’s not surprising that the attention of mountain nubiles has taken his mind off of being a backup to a rookie.

Jimmah H. Howard is no ordinary rookie, however.  As Okie pointed out in today’s awesome GDT, Jimmah saves and in a big way:

Jimmy Howard 3-0-0, 1.33, .944 in last 3 games played

At a time where every win is crucial, Jimmah has been our Huckleberry.

A2Y has always been ahead of the curve.  Our latest call to bronze the ass of Homer in the HHOF will surely result in the MSM picking up on the idea down the road.  And that is not the only thing we have been trendsetters on.  We have been talking about Howard winning the Calder trophy for months now.  About a month ago, the MSM picked up on our idea and now Howard is regularly mentioned among Calder candidates.

Curious to see where the discussion first turned to Howard and the Calder, I dhad the A2Y interns search the archives for the thread where Howard was first mentioned as a candidate for the Calder.  Surprisingly, the first mention came in a thread a week before Christmas in which the Chief wrote about Howard being the starter over Ozzie.

From the comments section:

Osgood is our pony in the playoffs, if we make them.
Howard is being played because Uncle Mike sees the daily improvement, and wants to give Jimmy every possible chance to develop to his potential.  And Jimmy has responded.
The organ-I-zation needs an accurate idea of Howard’s potential.  The first month he struggled and seemed doomed for the waiver wire in the future.  As you point out Herm and Chief, since the first month Howard has been lights out.  Maybe even Calder trophy worthy.

Now Jimmah takes our Wings through Oil-Country for a matchup against a team vying for a first-overall draft pick.  While this should be an easy victory, a quick promenade for a WIN, nothing has been easy this season.

As Gramps has been quick to point out, the Wings have fallen flat many times when facing terrible opponents.  J.J., his sister, and myself witnessed such a meltdown in Toronto this season where The Stevie was being honoured.  It was a horrible display.  And there has been many more games like that which draw bile up from the recesses of your belly in disgust.

Let’s dedicate this LB to Bella and her new baby, William Alexander.  Look for Billy to be a dominant power forward for the Wings in a couple of decades.

While this should be a promenade through Edmonton, the Wings have to pay attention every step of the way.  Take nothing to granted, and plant the skate firmly on the throat of the Oilers.  And most importantly, WIN.

A WIN tonight for The Wings. Two points. No bonus points given away.

That is the proper welcome for the new little one and for his Mother, who did all the hard work. Bitches.

Man, how many days off has it been? wonderful scheduling gary. I’m sure you will make it up to us in the Play-Offs.

Well It’s finally Friday, the winged wheelers roll in a half hour, and the Michigan Hockey team is currently leading Miami of Ohio, 1-0. A win tonight and tomorrow puts Red and the boys back in the “really” big dance again.

Go Blue!!  Go Wings!!

I have seriously been missing hockey, it seems like it is been forever.  I have been with my wife in the hospital for the last 4 days, 3 hours from home in traverse city.  Some hockey would have broken things up nicely,  Here’s hoping for a win tonight, break the streak against the Oilers.

WIN.  Do it for the children!

We did a little bit of impromptu home renovation today (goodbye, 1970’s paneling!) and now our cable is out.  I was freaking out—did it happen when we moved the TV?  When we shut off the circuit breaker?  How did I mess this up?

Turns out I didn’t.  There’s some problem affecting service in the area (high winds, I assume).  All channels are black.  I don’t even know if Murph is wasted or not.  (I can make a pretty good assumption, but it’s not the same as seeing it with my own eyes, you know?)

LGRW, indeed.
