NHL officiating is breathtaking at times.
Not blaming the Wings for that loss. That is officiating that defies explanation.

I’m praying that whatever hit the Blackhawk’s bench staff member (whomever he is) didn’t come from a Red Wings fan in the stands.

I’d like the Wings to be clean shaven for the playoffs. Screw the league. Nice @#$$#ing call.
Like the Mick said “I’d sure hate to see that in a playoff game.“Bitches.
Lets Go Red Wings!!!!!

Well, I’m pretty sure it did.

Kronner is pissed and that’s a good thing.
That Ref, I hope, just threw out his hopes of working the playoffs at least beyond the first round.
Posted by Osrt on 04/11/09 at 04:28 PM ET
That was quite possibly one of the greatest stick checks ever. It’s a damn shame that going above and beyond to make a great and clean play is penalized while everything that happens in scrums, that has nothing to do with the play of the game, is ignored.

You two *#$%@& better not ref a single playoff game.

I’ll keep my eye out for “Burn after Reading” ... I remember hearing about it.

Was he the one that made the call? Wouldn’t doubt it.
He went to Lake State for college. I was officiating USA Hockey at the time, and he joined our officiating crew for two years. Was a compete ass. So full of himself, and called everything. Games took forever because he had such a helium arm.
Dick then, dick now.

*#$%@& cognitively impaired zebras… unbelievable.
Oh well, upping that video to YouTube now, should be done soon.

So, you think they’ll call ‘em like that in the playoffs? That is, call penalties that never even happened? That ref sure is going to be embarrassed when he sees the tape on that one. Pathetic.
Conklin was pretty mediocre, too.
Other than the horrible call at the end, the game was pretty much what you’d expect. A lot of skating, no real intensity, close, low score, both teams just ready to get on with it.

Well, I’m pretty sure it did.
Posted by RWBill from Do we really have to play these meaningless games? on 04/11/09 at 05:28 PM ET
Me too, Bill. But after that comes hoping the guy gets caught and beaten severely with a frozen octopus carcass.
Posted by J.J. from Kansas on 04/11/09 at 04:35 PM ET
Mediocrity at it’s best. Quite a call at the end.
Might give them some inspiration for Sunday.
Oh, who am I kidding.

Given the meaninglessness for both teams, I’m not at all disappointed in the effort, it’s just too bad that a horrible call had to ruin it.

If there is any cosmic justice in the universe, Brian Pochmara will be nowhere near a playoff game come Wednesday. No team should have to put up with such incompetence.
The league has lost Rob Schick and Don Koharski to retirement this year. If the future is Brian Pochmara, this league is screwed.

Nevermind on that vid link, it’s too long for Youtube…
*sigh*

Dickwad, 32 regular season games and he calls a penalty shot with 30 seconds remaining. doubtless trying to prove he’s not a detroit homer. will not see the playoffs, that’s for sure. what a douchenozzle.

Posted by RWBill from the Land of 12 in 12. on 04/11/09 at 04:50 PM ET
I wish I hadn’t DVR’d that
Oh well, our record rounds out at a nice 20 Ls and 10 OTLs.
This ****ing team will probably find a way to ruin that too though…Lidstrom and Pav need 3 points tomorrow…
Did anything go right for us this season? What the ****.

Honey, you need to lay off the doggie downers. They rarely played to their potential this season, but they are in the playoffs, have 100+ points, and there are 5 guys with 20+ goals. The proverbial glass is more than half full.

Now I figured out why this guy turned me Gay. He’s got a voice like Freddie Mercury of Queen, one of the Flamingest Gay Vocalists ever, but what a vocalist. This guy’s in the same vein, vocally and the bedroom, or bathroom, no wonder he converted me this week.

Yeah I was gonna say, 4 straight 50 win seasons, 9 straight 100 point seasons, and we just got shafted by a no playoff experience dickwad ref, so today is no reason to get upset, nor will tomorrow.
Posted by RWBill from the Land of 12 in 12. on 04/11/09 at 05:29 PM ET
Chickenshit. That’s all I gotta say ‘bout that f*cked up penalty shot.

Man am I 100% glad I didn’t see one second of this game. Kinda did it on purpose too.
Beautiful day here in the KC area and I was outdoors for the last 9 or so hours. Walking in the woods & fields on my hunting land was so much more gratifying that spending the afternoon bitching about *#$%@& refs and the little sisters in CHI.
I have a sneaky suspicion I won’t bother to turn the game on tomorrow either.
Dub, if you want to change those vacation plans to come hunt here, lemme know. Seriously, Ohio isn’t “that” far of a drive. I bumped 4 different groups of deer today and could see a couple of deer already pushing new antler growth up.

I know in the long-run that has been this season, today’s events don’t matter, but that call CANNOT BE MADE. I’m just about as sick as Mick is about these ticky-tack, chintzy calls, phantom hooks and stuff that happens in these scrums after the whistle that someone mentioned in here earlier. This ref needs to be punished somehow. Don’t give me this shit about “They’re only human”. I’m so tired of hearing that shit. THIS IS THEIR JOB and supposedly they’re trained to do this. Too many times this season the refs have put themselves in situations where they directly influence the outcome of games, not just Wings games (Bubba constantly getting PP opportunities in O.T., anyone?). That is not their job. I swear it’s like these assholes just look to make calls whenever possible just so they can skate over to the scorer’s table to get themselves on t.v. But let guys like Jordin Tootoo freight-train players like he did to Dan Fritsche last night, and there’s no call. But then calls like today’s are made ALL THE TIME and usually these “hooking” and “holding” calls are non-existent. I know we’re all sick of it. I just had to say my piece about this.
