You *#$%@& magnificent son of a bitch!
That’s number 2 OT playoff winner for Franzen, in case anyone’s counting. Next year is his contract year. So who thinks him and Z are getting big raises?
Show of hands, please.
(Oh, and Hockey Gods? That’s enough adversity. A nice tame one on Sunday, please).

watching the game on my laptop with Sopcast...from the campsite. dropped the connection, got it connected in time to see Franzen racing toward the goal. MAGNIFICENT!
so what’s the key phrase of these playoffs?
secondary scoring. all the “experts” can SUCK IT.

80% that’s Eighty Percent - of Game 5 winners win the series. Good Omen considering preds already beat the odds just by sending this game to OT.

I thought Filppula should have been one of the three stars, he played really well.

Just get a new one. They all ignore humans the same way.

Nice pass by Kronwall.

That’s it. Bubba behind the eight-ball. All I really wanted tonight.
I’m going unconscious now until sometime tomorrow morning. Don’t let the parity hit you on the way out.

I keep re-watching the goal on TIVO, i love it.
Posted by hockeychic from Denver, CO on 04/18/08 at 09:39 PM ET
Filppula heck of a game. watching the replay, the errant puck to Kronwall was a result of Filppula getting his stick right into the predators stick so he couldn’t get good wood on it, it went right to kronwall who made a great pass.
NOTE: The Red Wings broke their losing streak and started playing Red Wing hockey when Kronwall returned to the line up, that’s when they started looking like the Red Wings again. Don’t underestimate this guy’s offensive contributions as well as his big hits.

It’s a damn good thing we won tonight. We deserved that win. Had we played one game like that in Nashville, this series would be over. That was by far the best game the boys played in this series so far, everyone hitting, playing that stifling defense, the only problem was not being able to finish. Ozzy did exactly what he needed to do for us, Nashville’s goal wasn’t his fault. Way to go Mule and Flip. Now, let’s end this bitch Sunday so I don’t have to watch anymore FSN South games dammit!
Posted by Chris from Columbia, Tennessee on 04/18/08 at 09:42 PM ET
Franzen didn’t have hands like this at the beginning of the year. He isn’t hesitating at all when he has a shot anymore. Nice to see him with so much confidence.
We may have to up the ante with a human sacrifice next game. I can nominate a coworker - or the next person driving 3o mph in front of me in a 45 mph zone. heh, heh, heh.....
Posted by Baroque from Michigan on 04/18/08 at 09:43 PM ET
Let’s clone more Franzens. Franzen and two Franzenstiens on the same line. WOOT!
Posted by RJ on 04/18/08 at 09:46 PM ET
I’d go with the guy driving 30 in a 45. “shelters are full of cats” LMAO you sick twisted freak.

Now to top this evening off Dallas withstand the first 10 minutes at Anaheim and pull off another stunning win to send Pronger to the golf course, or to beat up children, whatever he does in the off season.

I know people want to see the Wings play hard for a full game, but hey, 59/60 ain’t bad. (I’m allowed to make that joke because the Wings ended up winning.) The score says otherwise, but that really was a statement game for the Wings and a pretty embarrassing showing by Nashville, even considering they didn’t have two of their best forwards. I can’t think of anybody who had a bad game off the top of my head, other than the missed chances. Even Stuart was generally solid.
It’s been said before, but Franzen is just a totally different player now. For a couple months, he’s been the Wings third best forward and shows no signs of letting up. I’ll call it now: expect the team to keep him and drop Samuelsson when both their contracts expire after next season.
Lastly--Mikey, please, please let Draper take those faceoffs. That’s what he does. He kills penalties, skates fast, and takes faceoffs. Let him do his job. He’s pretty stinkin’ good at it.

I fell asleep mid-way through three.
Who won?

(Don’t ever say I don’t do anything for you Wings fans!)

Off game? Raffy.
He got nailed almost every shift and isn’t being nearly the puck moving presence I expected him to be in the playoffs. This may be a case of having too many expectations, but I thought he would be a playoff monster. Oh well...just win baby
I can’t believe no one is nominating Dats as one of the stars. Sammy had a great game but Dats was a force.
Anyway, off to find some stray cats for Sunday. Night

The Tigers won! The curse is broken!!!
O sweet lord, thank goodness for Todd Jones…
He is the first guy Nick hands the Cup to in a month and a half… And we will say, “it started here...”

After the game I went back and watched the CBC feed to see what the Canadians had to say about our boys. Did anyone else notice their were f’n tootoo whistles at the Joe tonight? Not only do we need somone to put a beatdown on tootoo, we need some fans to do the same with the whistle blowers - Shove the whistles up their @$$ - that way they can still blow them once in a while.

So much for my nice girl reputation, eh?
However;
1. I’m correct - shelters are full of stray cats.
2. I’m a dog person.
(Yes, when I’m mad I get brief moments of homicidal rage. Don’t worry, they pass quickly - and I haven’t killed anyone yet.)

Good news, my daschound survived—it turned out it was only a fleash wound.
My cat, 12 y/o talkative bastard, might be on short legs however.
Glad to see you survived last nights temepest Baroque—since you are the only literate one amongst us.
MULE: what a freaking beast—Fill, finds the net, Cleary was better too.
Uncle Mike’s post-game presser pointed to those three and Ozzy as the difference (shameless plug—check out the Forum).
Good Lord, what an emotional ride last night. Fortunately, it was “Sweet Emotion”.

Am I late? What did I miss?
Good thing I missed the live blog, otherwise my girlfriend’s 20-pound beastcat wouldn’t have survived the night.
And regarding the Wings-Tigers Corollary: I think it only applies when both teams are playing against division rivals (both Wings losses came when the Tigers beat the Twinkies and Injuns). Tigers playing Toronto this weekend (and oh yeah, Pistons are playing Philly), so I think it’s ok to root for all Detroit teams on Sunday without regret.

About Abel to Yzerman
Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that. Your suggestions and critiques are welcome:
