I leave to due my family duty of hanging shiny crap on a dead plant, and come back to find the Nyucks picked up two more.

You’re *#$%@& dead to me, Santa.

Nice shot by Hoss.  Decent pressure too.

Flip’s a vacuum in the neutral zone tonight.  Now if he can translate that into some shots on net.

Flip needs to turn it on in several areas JJ.  He’s been a disappointment.

Flips play along the boards has been good.  That is the only positive that comes to mind.

No doubt, Chief.  This was the kid I was calling Datsyuk Jr. this offseason.  Despite his point tonight, he’s not getting his name mentioned in a positive note enough.

All due respect Sir, Fil on the 3rd line isn’t exactly conditions for the young lad to shine..... given the wingers he’s been playing with. Other than a few shifts with Z.

Flip sucks so far this year

I have to agree Chief. Flip is never going to be a goal scorer per se..  but he will and is a solid 3rd line center who is tough to play against.

Nice work Cleary. To bad didn’t get anything out of it.

I give Fil a pass considering he’s on the 3rd line now and zero PP time. He could be better, but he’s not been awful.

With Fil being a real quiet typical introverted Finn, ya have to wonder how much of his play is the dreaded “cofidence” thing…
He was much better in the O zone last spring.

Agreed about Cleary...he had a strong shift.  Shades of Shanahan for a minute.

He always reminded me a lot of Z.  But this year… nothing.  Pretty transparent.

Although I have to admit I would like to see him up on that second line with Hank and Mule instead of Sammy.  For a handful of games anyway.

Remember, Tick-Tock said about his new contract that it was for potential that he saw in Flip, not because of the play he had put up.  Third line center or not, the kid needs to be better.

Clear has been playing well since he got back.  Specially since he only has like 20/45 vision or something in his left eye.  He just needs doo lang back to set him up for a bunch.

Put the right players with Fil and he will put up 65-70 points and be a force on D. look at what the kid did as a second line center in the playoffs.  With the addition of hossa fil goes to the third line, plays with less talented players, get less minutes and doesn’t complain a bit cause he knows he is a key piece of the future,

Flip has great positioning and a tricky stick and I’ve liked his neutral zone play tonight, but I’d like to see him toughen up on the offensive boards much like Z and Datsyuk did as they matured.  No doubt that he could be a top-six forward if need be, I’d just like to see him make Babcock’s decision to keep him off the power play a bit harder.

He was doing that a bit last year, especially in the playoffs, I keep hoping he’ll start again.  I’ve noticed a lot this year, he lets the opposition take the body too easily.

I have no doubt it will come in time.  His deal could possibly look like a steal in a couple years.

Hey guys just joining in as the DVR is now LIVE/EVIL.  That’s right a Miles Davis, bitches.  Cause Miles would call you bitch honkey muthas if he were here.  Some one has to lay that kind of talk onto Elroy, he’s never been bitch-slapped by an angry black man before.  Miles ain’t around anymore, so Samuel L. Jackson will have to do.  No more soft goals, and Hossa has to realize he is shooting on a hockey net in Detroit, not a soccer net in Europe, and get a shot on goal more often.

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977.  No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y.  Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation.  There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature.  Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that. Your suggestions and critiques are welcome:

Does confusion make you sad? When you read words like "enigma" and phrases like "Thanks Gary. Ass", do you wonder why mean people speak in languages you don't understand? Fret no longer friend! The A2Y Glossary will bring you great joy and enlightenment.

How Others View The A2Y 19

"Hell, I guarantee the content co-opters at Abel to Yzerman were about to link this article under the heading “Bitter Blues Fans” again right up until they just read that last half-sentance. Thanks but no thanks, you Kukla hangers-on."
--St. Louis Game Time

"I realize it’s the slow summer season, but can this guy tone down the tough-guy histrionics? His posts are fatiguing on an otherwise excellent site."
--A2Y Fan, Eternal_Fields

"I constantly marvel at how Bill (IwoCPO) and his disciples at Abel To Yzerman can be so pompous and full of themselves throughout every regular season, but come playoff time they collapse into wavering puddles of stress and nervousness as they anxiously await the impending and unavoidable collapse of the Red Wings in the post-season."
--Mile High Hockey

"I hate them because they are better than us. Of all the frigging teams…"
--In The Cheap Seats

"It's just a shame that the most classless, uneducated, lowbrow fanbase in the league gets this sweep. Red Wing fans don't deserve their team."
--Thhom

"I really don’t care what fans or bloggers think."
--Drew Sharp

"Why is it you Detroit fans are still so classless when you have such a classy hockey team, with such a professional GM and gentlemen players? I understand that the author of this blog is a manner-less cad, but the rest of you should be better."
--A2Y Fan, Jeff Beaumont

"Have you ever *read* A2Y? Its the most opinionated, juvenile stuff i've read."
--Paul Nicholson

"I actually like the Detroit team and have a sh&% load of respect for them, but their fans are the biggest douches next to Canadians."
--KStewy, PensBlog Commenter

"Just when it looks like we have bottomed out, the 19 hit a new low."
-A2Y legend, Hockeytown Todd

"And for the record, I don't hate the Red Wings, I hate their fans."
--Douche Bag at Puck Daddy who isn't Wyshynski

"You’re nothing but a douchebag ****, c3po. Go f**k yourself, and learn something about hockey in the process. Nothing ruins my day more than seeing your byline on the kk page."
--Hector, A2Y fan, statesman, Pittsburgh Chapter of Jonas Brothers Fan Club President

"I can just imagine the kindergarten teacher’s reaction when the tyke blurts out 'Mommy says Gary Bettman is a f*cking f*ckface! He wants to give ‘Rosby the bad touch.' ”
--Bella, of the 19

"A2Y is what other blog sites aspire to be when they fail to grow up: intelligent immaturity for the juvenile genius set”
