Bit of an absence there. Back in business this evening with a live blog for the Canuck game.  At that time we’ll unveil the results of the “Name That Line” voting and put it into use.  Also believe a family discussion regarding the immediate future of one Igor Grigorenko is in order.  Suggest we tackle that issue between periods.

If Grigorenko plays tonight—or anytime in the near future (barring injuries to others or absolutely awesome practices by Iggy)—then Babcock’s credibility in the room plummets.

I’ve had high hopes for the guy for the past several years, but now have to agree with others who think he’s headed back to Mother Russia sooner rather than later. I would be more than happy to be proven wrong, though.

agreed YzerZet:  The only way I see this kid having a chance at looking good is to play with Dats, and there is no way he has earned that. Especially not the way the European Union is working right now.

Fingers crossed though.

Also, I’ve sold the spare tickets for the Sharks game this friday and will be in attendance. My butt will, however, be sore from being raped by the ticket prices…  shut eye

“My concern now is the upcoming Wed game when VAN hits MoTown
The first game off a road trip is usually trouble——
No more room service Lads. now it is 3 days of cleaning gutters, taking your own trash out, Gassing and washing your own SUV’s. And then there is the wife, and picking up the dog poop.
Great to be back, eh!.”

YzermanZetterberg, I couldn’t agree less.  Giving him 4 minutes on the fourth line would be the worst thing Uncle Mikey could do…let everyone see once and for all that he’s not going to live up to the hype.

If Babcock gives Grigs 20 minutes tonight, he’ll be my new hero. One game, one chance. Score a hat trick or get your ass on the next plane to Russia.

Buh-bye.

I don’t think Babcock’s credibility is shot if Grigorenko plays; just if he plays game after game after game when he clearly hasn’t earned it.  He wants a chance, so give him an honest shot.  If it doesn’t work, too bad, you had your opportunity.

But he hasn’t even earned the right to play with the Wings! He should be in Grand Rapids for the rest of the year or until he produces some serious points. Look at Hudler and hell he went through despite rocking the AHL.

Like I said though, the only way Grigs is going to get a chance to show off his talent is to put him on a line with Dats. Given the rhetoric coming out of both Kenny and Babbles, I don’t see that happening.

I think there’s no need to play Grigorenko tonight, or the next game, or the next.  If he’s going to get a one-game chance, why not give it to him when he is most able to take advantage of it — sometime around the day before Franzen is put back on the roster?  Use the next two weeks to press him, observe his work ethic, and let him work on his speed with the big boys.
