MacLeod Reports On Third Scrimmage

Updated 1500 ESTMacLeod has the first round of cuts posted here and the training camp scoring leaders here

Updated 1355 EST: MacLeod also reports the first wave of roster cuts will be made today.  Should have details soon.

——————————————————

Yesterday it was Datsyuk’s brilliance. Today, Bruce MacLeod tells us from TC that Jiri Hudler was turning heads.

Jiri Hudler was flying. He made smart plays and outskated opponents on the backcheck.  Grigorenko was better, but not outstanding.

More from Red Wing Corner.  MacLeod has another brief post up regarding a possible minor injury to Valteri Filppula.

Valtteri Filppula didn’t practice with his group, Sunday, but said that his ailment was minor and that he’d likely be back on the ice tomorrow. No specifics on his injury.

Interesting that Maltby tied for the lead with 4 points (even if they are all assists).  Responding to last week’s call out?

“Dallas Drake led the team in goals. Kirk Maltby led the team in assists and Tomas Kopecky was a plus-2.”

I always had a warm feeling about that line. Anyone still doubting that Drake will make the team?

Khan says that Filppula’s groin to be fine in a day or two.

Maltby/Kopecky/Drake—That, to put it mildly, is an “in your face” line to be sure.  Drake is 38, and Malts is 35.  Nice line to stir things up—make a little hate!!  Anyone know how many mins the 4 line played for Uncle Mike last season?

Good for Huddles—maybe if he gives Uncle Mike a basket of aged cheddar he can work his way out of the doghouse (if he has the slightest idea why he was in there in the first place).  Hopefully Huddles will get some more mins this season.
