Marty…We’re Not Kidding. Put The “V” Away.

Dude. You gave up like 11 goals to the Wings last week. Enough is enough.
Put the V away. And to all you transplants out west? Good on ya.
It also doesn’t hurt that many ex-patriot Michiganders make their homes in some of those opposing towns. “It helps,” Osgood said. “In San Jose, they don’t like us there and it’s the same in Dallas, but there’s a lot of (Wings) fans in Anaheim and L.A. and especially in Phoenix, which just makes it fun and enjoyable for us to play. We enjoy the support and we want to perform well, because they only get a chance to see us once or twice a year.”
It’s a Live Blog bitches. On Versus. Oh, the quality.

Dallas played like it was Game 7 of the SCF and the Wings played like it was the preseason. For some reason, they looked very sluggish as the game wore on, I don’t know why. Ozzie was excellent, I feel bad he didn’t get a better outcome. We’ll see if this game serves as a kick in the ass for the next 3 games.

Was in DC for a quick trip - went to Tunnifcliffs in Eastern Market - they were very nice in putting the wings/stars game on the TV. If you guys are still looking for a meet up place in dc to drink/watch the game - highly recommend that place, nice waiters, put up with drunk people - good times!

Ozzie was excellent, I feel bad he didn’t get a better outcome.
I went to bed upset about the game, but I woke up realizing that Ozzie’s play matters a lot more than one lousy point. After the past few weeks, I know that the team can get it together; having proof that Ozzie can back it up was really the last piece necessary for my peace of mind. I’m sure they’ll find some new and exciting way to crush my soul on the West Coast trip, but for today, I’m going to feel as good about the Wings as I have all season.
But I don’t like making up words that don’t exist and using the demonstratably WRONG word for a situation.
There were a few times when I was pretty sure the commentators just had no idea what they were saying, but for the most part, there was just a bunch of incredibly bizarre usage. Particularly when a word’s not being used much anyway, why not stretch the meaning a bit? Gives the word new life. But then, I also like new words most of the time, and sportscasting has given us excellent words like “winningest”; I’m predisposed to give commentators quite a bit of leeway.

hopefully somebody will be able to track down the douchebag that stole the kid’s stick, and have a “chat” with him in an alley somewhere.

Could have sworn that closing your hand on the puck was a penalty.
So Hossa gets interfered, Ozzie gets clipped at the side of the goal, but nevermind - we got Detroit for a hold.
Ridiculous.
Hockey Joe—Thanks for confirming that someone else besides me actually saw these incidents. You’d certainly never know they happened from listening to the “V” team. I guess in a way it’s good to know that it was just another night in lil gary’s NIHL and I wasn’t hallucinating. Although, on the other hand, I’m not sure how much more I can take of the—MADE UP WORD ALERT—wrestlization of hockey. I’m not sure if it makes me more angry or sad to watch Bettman et al tilt the ice whatever way they see fit in the name of parity.
Watching last night’s game does not make me feel good heading into Anaheim. Pronger, Getzlaf and the other mouth-breathing poultry are probably sharpening their elbows and drooling in anticipation.

Kalan’s stick had fallen into the hands of Robert Pappert, a North Carolina dentist who was at Wrigley with his wife,
Hey Duke,
Track this guy down and make him an honorary member of the 19.

I timed the Nyquil wrong last night and fell over asleep just after Datsyuks goal put them up by one. Now I’m glad I did.
Ah well. You can’t win every game. And it’s not like Turco beat us in our building. BFD, moving on.

Eek, Egad, and good-frigging grief.
U - G - L - Y!!!! By far the worst performance by the Wings in quite some time (and it started so damn good). Marty was being, well Marty. More holes in his game that in my golf swing. And then—W.T.F! was that??
I had thought this last left-coast swing would be the true barometer of where the Wings game actually sat. You could definitely say, their game isn’t resting on a solid foundation. PK was acceptable, Ozzie was pretty damn good. Defense was almost non-existent!
Shots
DET: 14 10 5 1 30
DAL: 9 23 16 1 49
Giving up 48 shots in regulation.
DET was lucky to salvage a point out of that fiasco.
Ducks on Wed, then Kings Thur. Sharks on Sat and finsh with Yotes Tues.
DET should, at minimum gather 4 of the 8 pts available; but after last night who knows.
Just what do you call Mondays performance?

Yeah, I don’t feel so bad now. It still sucks that we have up 50 SOG and Osgood lost and the winning streak ended at a measly six games…
But we already know the Wings’ strategy this season. Beat the sucky teams with as little effort as possible, and play perfect against the best teams in the league. And they’ve shown they can do it.
Yup. That’s what they’re doing.

I have to add, however that Kronwall and Stuart have got to step it up.

Trap game?
Anaheim is in 6th place and Dallas is in 12th place. Maybe after the first period Detroit was looking ahead to a team they might meet in the playoffs and looking past Dallas as frankly a non-playoff team. Dallas went back in the room and looked around and realized they had gone from giving up 2 goals per period to 3. Wheee! and they figured they had better start doing something or they were just going to get embarassed even worse in front of their home fans than they had on the road.
It doesn’t take much, one team relaxes just a little bit and the other doesn’t, and things can snowball. Once Dallas got going ... well, they aren’t a peewee team after all, and they do have some professional pride.

Its no big deal…This stuff happens in all professional sports.
The first 2 Stars goals went in off our own defense, and the handwriting was on the wall.
Crap calls from engineered parity sealed the deal. Ozzie is back, and nobody got hurt.
Wings first game on crap ice in a while, and they’re going to see the same for the next 3.
Sumboddy got to sit to get Meech in there, the whole team plays better with him on Defense.
Paired with Lilja, they look like they have been playing together for years. I think the Wings
best game this year was with Kronner sitting out.

Baroque—good to see you. You and Todd are probably right (pain—j/k), this one game is no big deal by itself (just disheartening).
We will all know much more about the leadership on this team after the next four games.

I know your in your “Happy Place”, non-blogging, jesusmurphywelosttotheStars mode….but throw me a bone here.
