...is what it is because our new hero Mike Babcock is taking an extra six hours to decide who to sit, Jiri Hudler or Mikael Samuelsson? Justwuzzienoughtopleadinsanity is going to play. We know it, or we can safely assume it. The question is who to take out of a lineup that has been so frigging successful. Prevailing opinion here is that Hudler deserves to play but Sam probably will due to experience and…and what?

If they put D or Z on the point during the PP, who is going to play center/wing? Those two can’t play two positions at the same time. Well, maybe Datsyuk can. Oh, and he does play point on the PP sometimes.
I think the rationale behind not saying yes or no about Bertuzzi playing isn’t to keep the fans guessing - it’s to keep the Flames guessing.

I think it might be a good idea to see either of those two guys at the point. Neither of them would panic with the puck, and it isn’t as though the powerplay has been clicking at a 40% clip or anything all season.
And if it didn’t work out, there is nothing prohibiting them from playing Sammuelson in the next game.

I think you guys are nuts trying to micro-manage PP Point decisions. Every coach in the playoffs would sell their firstborn to have Schneider, Lidstrom, Lebda, Markov and Chelios available for the point on their PP. I think it is a real ‘tell’ that their most successful and shortest PP in this series is when they charged the net first off before skating down the boards to set up their ‘puck possesion PP’.

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that. I’m hoping Babs comes to his senses and keeps what I’ve nicknamed the “Hud Flipper Monster” line (Hudler/Filppula/Franzen) together. The thing that might keep Sammy from watching from the press box is his “ability” to play the point on the power play. Why not experiment with D or Z at the point? I realize their not exactly known for having great shots and are key to working the PP down low, but would it hurt to have a creative player at that position on the ice without sacrificing defensively? Just a far out there thought of mine.
