From: Conductor, Abel To Yzerman Stress Train
To: All Passengers
Subj: FREQUENCY OF POSTING PRIOR TO EMBARKATION/GENERAL INFORMATION
1. Posting will be light today and throughout the weekend as final preparations are made to accomodate maximum load (he said...nevermind).
2. In order to facilitate a successful 2008 Stress Train experience, passengers who intend to submit A2Y playoff slogan banners must have them to the conductor no later than Monday at 2100 hours.
3. Wifi stations will be set up in the club car and in the fore and aft heads, as well as the staterooms, to allow for live blogs during each kick-in-the-nuts playoff game.
4. Alcohol is not mandatory, but it is free and most patrons will be abusing it. There is no expectation aboard the train to partake, but be forewarned that peer pressure will be significant.
5. Early boarding will begin Sunday evening at 1930. The 2008 Stress Train will be expanded should more patrons require accomodations.
6. More to follow.

As a long time A2Y reader, I figured it was time to join-up as a member. ‘Tis the season and I want my seat reserved on ‘the stress express’ all the way to No. 11 for THE team in the NHL -
GO WINGS!!!

Yes, just please don’t wipe your feet on my sweater, it is a #19 afterall. I have to have something of comfort as I’m curled up here on the floor. I want to have a playoff party next Thursday but I’m too afraid I might be unfit for company. Stress will do that to you, ya know?
GO WINGS!

Well, after last nights nail biter I will have to climb aboard and enjoy the view. With some good luck and good play to watch along the way. Here’s to hoping the last stop will be at the Stanley Cup Parade in Hockeytown. Now if i can just find my blood pressure medicine. All aboard..... Lets Go Red Wings!!!!!

I shouldn’t have had so much coffee before reading this post. I’m a complete wreck right now. I’ll be in the drinking car if anyone needs me.
Visual— if anyone here has seen the documentary “Festival Express,” that’s exactly how I imagine this train to be...an odd blend of chaos, community and debauchery. It’s obvious early into the documentary that the Express is going to bankrupt the organizers, but they press on anyway. If you don’t see the connection there, you’re probably not a Wings fan. Or your an optimist. Which is strange.

I’m firmly on the stress train. Stuart and Homer not yet 100%. Ugh. However, I think it would be great if they signed Abdelkaber and had him along for the ride through the playoffs. It would be nice to have some added spark.
For those in the Washington, DC area, Ventnor’s Sports Bar on 18th Street (Adams Morgan) is showing the Wings playoff games.

That’s huge news, TDeters. I’m in DC every other week. Is Ventnor’s doing this throughout the playoffs? Standing policy? I thought they were a Philly bar.

I’m thinking more along the lines of The Ship of Fools. Or the Voyage of the Damned. The Magic Christian on an especially choppy day.
Collarbones, ligaments, groins. Head, shoulders, knees and toes. This relic, sir, is the lesser finger of one Saint Stuart. Light an intercessor candle, say a mantra or ten, sacrifice a goat or just do whatever nepenthe numbs the pain as the chips fall one by one. All of that and grim fatalism can be found here in the Stress Caboose. All the way to the back, ladies and gentlemen. All the way to the back.
Alex, where are you getting the info on Kopy? George doesn’t seem to have it posted yet.

Matt posted it, straight from Sipple and Holland.
Looks like I’m finally putting some faith in a Spartan. Step it up, Abbie.

Yeah, the highlander has it as well.
http://redwingscorner.blogspot.com/2008/04/kopecky-out-4-6-months.html
Geez, 4-6 months. He’s getting as bad as Kronner.
He also reports Abdelkater signed and will be with the team through the playoffs.

Disch:
Ventnor’s is a somewhat new place on 18th street between Belmont and Columbia road. I know three or four other Michiganders here, and with my fiancee’s permission (hope, hope) we’ll be watching most of the games there. I’ll DC’s leading chief petty officer and maybe he’ll mention the gatherings here on A2Y.
I can’t believe the injuries. Ridiculous. Kopecky, Homer, Stuart, Draper, Sammy all within the last month of the season. Ridiculous.
Although I’m surprised Abdelkader isn’t getting more discussion here on A2Y and other places. This is precisely the kind of thing teams need for long playoff runs. A rookie who comes out of nowhere to provide real spark. Fleury with the flames back in the day, Datsyuk with the wings in 2002. I think this kid has great promise.

About Abel to Yzerman
Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that. Your suggestions and critiques are welcome:

How Others View The A2Y 19
"Hell, I guarantee the content co-opters at Abel to Yzerman were about to link this article under the heading “Bitter Blues Fans” again right up until they just read that last half-sentance. Thanks but no thanks, you Kukla hangers-on."
--St. Louis Game Time
"I realize it’s the slow summer season, but can this guy tone down the tough-guy histrionics? His posts are fatiguing on an otherwise excellent site."
--A2Y Fan, Eternal_Fields
"I constantly marvel at how Bill (IwoCPO) and his disciples at Abel To Yzerman can be so pompous and full of themselves throughout every regular season, but come playoff time they collapse into wavering puddles of stress and nervousness as they anxiously await the impending and unavoidable collapse of the Red Wings in the post-season."
--Mile High Hockey
"I hate them because they are better than us. Of all the frigging teams…"
--In The Cheap Seats
"It's just a shame that the most classless, uneducated, lowbrow fanbase in the league gets this sweep. Red Wing fans don't deserve their team."
--Thhom
"I really don’t care what fans or bloggers think."
--Drew Sharp
"Why is it you Detroit fans are still so classless when you have such a classy hockey team, with such a professional GM and gentlemen players? I understand that the author of this blog is a manner-less cad, but the rest of you should be better."
--A2Y Fan, Jeff Beaumont
"Have you ever *read* A2Y? Its the most opinionated, juvenile stuff i've read."
--Paul Nicholson

All you had to say was free alcohol and I’m sure most of your readers would be on that train no matter where it was headed. What? The bridge ahead is out? But the alcohol is free, right?
Looking like Bubba unless Calgary wins. If it is Bubba, any chance the Chief comes back to TN to take in a game?
For those who didn’t see the game last night, Bubba has fallen into playing a slow’em down, grinding, throw it to the net and get lucky game. They look a lot like a certain Edmonton team from the past, complete with unproven Roloson-type goalie.
