Mirtle: Hossa a Hawk

Kopecky a Hawk too, and this is interesting from Kevin Allen,

With Hossa signed with Chi 4 12 yrs, I have ‘Hawks at $34 mill for 8 players in 10-11 with no Kane, Toews, Keith

From Elliot Friedman’s Twitter account,

Pierre LeBrun (the real one) reports it is 12 years, $5.2 million per season for Hossa.

Via TSN, then James Mirtle.  No word on money or term.

And so, I’m thinking the rivalry with Chicago?  Just got a bit more intense.

Where are the insane overpayments so far this season?

All of the GMs are well aware that the cap will go down after next season. The cap seems to track league revenues (and thus the overall economy) about a year late. I’ve read the cap will go down anywhere from $5-10mil after the 2009-10 season.

Lilja is driving tic tock’s caution. If Lil’s career is over, tic tock needs a new Dman. He has to save cap space and trade bait for that possibility. Taz and Leino will have to replace Hossa and Sammy. Leino just needs to learn the finer points of the defensive resposibilities of a forward in Uncle Mike’s Grand Scheme of Things.

Not if he’s expected to replace Sammy.  I loved some of the parts of his game, but defensive acumen was definitely NOT one of them.  Speaking of ol’ Streaky Sammy, any news yet on him?  Uncle Mike may be foaming at the mouth with the thought that he’s still available on the FA market.

They’re really digging the tough guys from teams we hate in Philly. Sasquatch followed by Lappy eh? Interesting.

Yeah, it’ll be real interesting to see if Filly can even make the playoffs. Don’t forget the even picked up Darian Hatcher. Looks like Filly has gotten dumber, slower and even less capable of scoring than they were last season.

With Lappy and the Caveman the Philly Fizzix are going to be brutal to play this year....glad the Wings aren’t in that division.

So Chicago is taking a pass on Khabi and Huet is currently their #1 in net? It would be so sweet if the Hawks wrecked their cap and goaltending situation just so Scotty could play an ultimately self-defeating mind game with the Wings.

It would be even sweeter if the Wings could free up enough cap space to dangle a long-term deal in front of Toews or Kane in the near future, thus out Scottying Scotty.

My level of hatred for the Ducks has decreased now that Pronger’s with Philly. The hate’s still warm though because they have that gutless fairy Perry. Getzlaf, on the other hand, I’d actually like to see play for the Wings.

With Pronger and Lappy now in Philly, I’m conflicted. I dislike both of them, I don’t like the Flyers, yet I’ll cheer for them when they hit Crosby.

However, Cindy did not beat our ass in game 7. Cindy didn’t do squat in game 7, inlcuding his failure to fulfill his sportsmanship obligation of leading the Pen(i)s in the handshake line. Max Tlbot kicked our ass you ignorant little twit.

Second, the Pens record at the Joe is abysmal. Gloat over your championship all you want, your team earned it. But at a bare minimum get those pesky little things called “FACTS” straight when you do it.

Crazy stuff. I’m not sure where I fall there. Maybe the whole “showing him loyalty” was a way of trying to lure him into a cheap contract by showing what kind of organization the Wings truly are. Though, it was clear we probably weren’t going to sign him and it would have been nice to get at least a pick or two out of it. Hm…

CaptNorris, it’s not a very big surprise. Philip Anshutcz is the Anti-Illitch. His company AEG owns Staples Center and the Kings. He bought the Kings to help his effort to get Staples built. Staples is booked 350+ nights a year and is the most profitable arena in the nation. Anshutz is all about profit, period. Until Kings fans wise up and stay away from Staples, he is more than happy to keep taking their money and making a profit on a losing team. The Kings will never come close to winning a Cup until he sells the team.
