About fifty thousand others didn’t, and each of them had a video camera, and they all ran home to load it on You Tube.
For who? You, that’s who. Because Al Gore wanted it that way.
Remarks from Uncle Mike and players below.

W2, we’ve got the old standbys: cheap, warm beer. Cheddar. Courageous pets. That’s all I can offer right now. I’ve got something funny for you guys coming up later tonite, though. Reaction from enemy bloggers. Pure gold. I may fall asleep (pass out), so if not tonite. Look for it in the AM.

mmmm....cheap beer...warm. soft, warm cheddar.
That should do me until I get worked up about enemy bloggers.

I think I am going to need help with hockey withdrawal.
Oh geez me too. Tomorrow morning I’m going over to Cincinnati to see the Cyclones Cup celebration downtown. Not that it even comes close the Stanley Cup parade in Detroit, but it will have to do as a stand in celebration. I’m going to need some kind of hockey patch to ween myself off.
Here’s a link to my Cyclones pic from the clinching game last night if anyone is interested: http://www.flickr.com/photos/25158361@N05/

Where can I get the hat Babs and Oompa Loompa were wearing? It’s MUCH nicer than the official hats.

I noticed those too. Something for the team only?
What I really want is the Bruise Brothers shirt Downey was wearing.

That hat was available at the Joe today, probably elsewhere as well.
McCarty was wearing the Bruise Brothers shirt, too.

I wish I could have made it up to Detroit for the parade (or a finals game), but alas I had to work. I’ll have to settle for the Cyclones rally in downtown Cincinnati (who I got to see win the ECHL Kelly Cup last night in person (For $10. There’s something to be said for minor league hockey.))
I love Homer’s statement about the guys who this is their first time ‘need to suck it all up’, but for some guys it happens four times. He looked like a big giddy Swedish chipmunk of joy.
I’ve got the team picture with the Cup as my main desktop background (and the aforementioned Cyclones team picture with their Cup on the secondary monitor), and every time I look at it I realize that I just can’t stop grinning.

I thought Kwame wanted it that way.
How do you like it, baby?
On ice.
It burnses! For four freakin’ hours. Nurse!
This stuff. It makes me stupid. I had to watch the parade and the gathering on TV. Drool got everywhere. And yeah, this is only the beginning of the withdrawals. I can’t wait for the next season - to see those banners raised, to really make it official, part of the record, up there with the rest, waiving in the collective joyous howls of 20,000 (or just, perhaps, The 19) rabid fans eager to put this train back on the track and let it ride.
I wanna go again, daddy. I wanna go again! Mommy! Say I can go again! NOW!
Crackheads don’t know crazy. Know what I mean.

Hey Jenn congrats, the Richmond Renegades won the ECHL Cup in 95 and it was a pretty big deal, over 10,000 on a weeknight in attendance. Too bad the ECHL franchise closed up in the early 2000s, since then we had a team in the UHL and now the SPHL. It is nowhere near the level of the ECHL which actually has a lot of guys on NHL club contracts. The East Coast has done really well, expanding all the way to Anchorage (East Coast?). I’d love to have the ECHL back in town but it has constraints on the owners that a lot can’t deal with.
Congrats, I used to go to about 20 games a year in Richmond when they were ECHL.

About Abel to Yzerman
Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that. Your suggestions and critiques are welcome:

How Others View The A2Y 19
"Hell, I guarantee the content co-opters at Abel to Yzerman were about to link this article under the heading “Bitter Blues Fans” again right up until they just read that last half-sentance. Thanks but no thanks, you Kukla hangers-on."
--St. Louis Game Time
"I realize it’s the slow summer season, but can this guy tone down the tough-guy histrionics? His posts are fatiguing on an otherwise excellent site."
--A2Y Fan, Eternal_Fields
"I constantly marvel at how Bill (IwoCPO) and his disciples at Abel To Yzerman can be so pompous and full of themselves throughout every regular season, but come playoff time they collapse into wavering puddles of stress and nervousness as they anxiously await the impending and unavoidable collapse of the Red Wings in the post-season."
--Mile High Hockey
"I hate them because they are better than us. Of all the frigging teams…"
--In The Cheap Seats
"It's just a shame that the most classless, uneducated, lowbrow fanbase in the league gets this sweep. Red Wing fans don't deserve their team."
--Thhom
"I really don’t care what fans or bloggers think."
--Drew Sharp
"Why is it you Detroit fans are still so classless when you have such a classy hockey team, with such a professional GM and gentlemen players? I understand that the author of this blog is a manner-less cad, but the rest of you should be better."
--A2Y Fan, Jeff Beaumont
"Have you ever *read* A2Y? Its the most opinionated, juvenile stuff i've read."
--Paul Nicholson
"I actually like the Detroit team and have a sh&% load of respect for them, but their fans are the biggest douches next to Canadians."
--KStewy, PensBlog Commenter
"Just when it looks like we have bottomed out, the 19 hit a new low."
-A2Y legend, Hockeytown Todd
"And for the record, I don't hate the Red Wings, I hate their fans."
--Douche Bag at Puck Daddy who isn't Wyshynski
"You’re nothing but a douchebag ****, c3po. Go f**k yourself, and learn something about hockey in the process. Nothing ruins my day more than seeing your byline on the kk page."
--Hector, A2Y fan, statesman, Pittsburgh Chapter of Jonas Brothers Fan Club President
"I can just imagine the kindergarten teacher’s reaction when the tyke blurts out 'Mommy says Gary Bettman is a f*cking f*ckface! He wants to give ‘Rosby the bad touch.' ”
