My Guess? It’s Flippin’ Imminent

Updated 1012 EST: Email from Risto Pakarinen, blogger at NHL.com: “Hasn’t signed yet, getting closer, likely to sign before fri hearing.”

Tick Tock generally gets what he wants. He’s greedy that way. And so are we. And right now? What we’d like is news of a Filppula deal, hopefully one of a long-term variety.
But…the Diggers are disappointing us again. So, just for fun, I thought I’d pick up the rotary and dial Wally’s agent. Guy named Bill Zito of Acme Sports.
Quick, painless.
And some reason for optimism.
Me: “Any word on a Valteri Filppula deal?”
Zito: “Have the Wings released anything yet?”
And that was pretty much it. No BFFs or LOLs. But an interesting question in response to my question.
But…my impression? Something’s going down and it’s going down soon. And because Kenny gets what Kenny wants…I’m betting it’s a deal that is inexpensive at first, staggered over the course of a long-term arrangement. Wally’s going to prove that he’s “bought into the system.”

About Abel to Yzerman
Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
