Stan Fischler’s been around a long time. Not just on earth, but writing hockey. I’m talking like 83 years. So we respect him for that.
But, respect aside, I believe it might be time for the senile bastard to just fade…away. Check this out.
Since Mike Babcock never lies, it’s worth noting that he calls his current Red Wings, “The best players I’ve ever been involved with.” (Excuse us while we wonder how the goaltending will hold up in April.)
Mike Babcock never lies? He lies every day, to every media member he can find. In between bites of Hot Pockets and sips of Fresca, he lies. He lies about injuries, line combinations, $10.99 movie charges to his rooms on the road.
He lies and we dig it. But I’ll give Fischler the benefit of the doubt. He may have been sarcastic. And we dig that.
But the goaltending in April line? I had to go back and check the date on that column to see if it was written in October 2007. Is Chris Osgood playing well right now? No. But has he proven he can “hold up in April”? Yeah.
Florida’s a beautiful state Stan, with some very nice older people who live in communities that are comfortable and safe. Let me know if you need a brochure.

Forget the brochure, buy him a ticket! Not that you want to do us Rangers fans a favor (we have to hear him every game! Ugh!).
