By now you’ve read of the exploits of one Zach Smith, the wack job who bought two tickets to Game 4 so that he could toss a ‘pus, get kicked out and get right the hell back into Mellon Arena.
“Before the national anthem, we made our way down there and stood there,” he said. “I got it out and just tossed it.”
As the guards took him out, fans screamed obscenities.
“I hate Pittsburgh more than anything,” he said, noting the rivalry between Cleveland and Pittsburgh. “It was great. I loved the rush.”
And this is why you guys can’t stay mad at PensBlog. Here’s their version of Smith’s quote.
“I hate Pittsburgh more than anything,” he said, noting the rivalry between Cleveland and Pittsburgh. “It was great. I loved the rush. And I love men.
Dammit. Now that’s funny.
And so are these, a few of the comments from PB readers. For the record, I have no idea what an “emo” is. 39 is so frigging old.
“RE: Emo. i want to fu**ing murder that douche. i hope his dog dies.”
“I hope Emo kid gets disowned by his family on Christmas day. What a dick.”

“Octopussy should have taken some of that money he spent and gotten a real haircut.”
Many of us have been going back and forth with the Pens Blog “staff” and readers, and it’s gotten intense at times. Expected, considering what’s at stake. But, man, that’s some funny stuff. STWWT? One thing we’ll all have to admit is that we’ve found ourselves some kindred juvenilidiots. And, yeah, that’s a compliment.

Freep.com has been posting “classic” Albom columns (along with new columns) throughout the playoffs, but for some reason today’s “classic” one is at the top of the Red Wings coverage page and the current one is just below that.

Well, damn. Now I actually read Albom’s non-1995 column, and I ... like it. I mean, not that he’s saying anything groundbreaking, or in a groundbreaking way. But I never get sick of hearing it.

Well, if someone has emo hair it doesn’t necessarily mean they adopted all the other emo habits so I think it’s ok.

About Abel to Yzerman
Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that. That’s hilarious, Paul, because at first I thought you were just mocking Albom for writing a retread of an old column ... and then I actually bothered to follow the link and saw that it was, uh, an actual reprint of a column from 1995.
There was a time when I liked Mitch Albom. And then it stopped being 1997. And I stopped being 18 years old and amused by him just because he could write columns about Wimbledon that managed to involve Sergei Fedorov, while also kind of suggesting that Anna Kournikova was a superbitch.
The problem is that I have a real soft spot for the Freep because it’s where my parents met, so I probably wouldn’t be here—and be lucky enough to be the product of two native Detroiters, and therefore a genetically engineered fan of the greatest sports team in the history of ever—if it weren’t for that paper. And their current vice president/editor, Paul Anger, a straight-up good guy, was one of my first bosses.
And now I’m going to bust out some straight-out self-promotion—although only in the sense that I’m really just sharing my own deeply ridiculous Wings frenzy, and yet again humiliating myself on the Internet—by sharing this link to a blog to which I contribute that does not, in theory, have anything at all to do with sports. I’m sure I’ll have my posting rights rescinded at any moment, but until then: GO WINGS! And what’s more: Go South Florida-based Wings fans!
