Once again, for the second time the last three games, I’ll be missing the live blog tonite, DVRing the game and sitting through an official
function trying not to soil the cloth of our nation. I’ll be receiving your comments and emails throughout and won’t read a single one. Don’t
try to send me notes and trick me either, the ones titled, “Your House Is On Fire”. You almost got me last time but it didn’t work.

Johan! Avs are toast. I hope reality is setting in for the fans in Denver.
Posted by PaulinMiamiBeach on 04/24/08 at 07:14 PM ET
YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jose is looking very fallible.
Posted by wingsfanindenver on 04/24/08 at 07:14 PM ET
BAHAHAHAH!
What a blast by Kronner, and of course Franzen to redirect!

Oh, man. That was a beautiful redirection.
Posted by Modnar from Cincinnati, OH on 04/24/08 at 07:15 PM ET
Theodore’s looking so sharp tonight with his .700 save percentage thus far.
Posted by BuzzFledderjohn on 04/24/08 at 07:15 PM ET
DAMN Wings were lucky to get three ALL GAME against NSH!!!
Posted by Jeff OKWingnut from Quest for 12 on 04/24/08 at 07:15 PM ET
Avs obviously can’t keep up with the Wings’ speed. methinks this is going to be a short series.
Posted by PaulinMiamiBeach on 04/24/08 at 07:17 PM ET
Jeff, got it. Thanks.
Who’s our next scorer? Homer?
Posted by red from SE Michigan on 04/24/08 at 07:17 PM ET
too bad this game isn’t on NBC. We could hear from the DC how the Dive are a team that thrives on adversity and they’ll come out swinging in the 2nd.
Posted by wingsfanindenver on 04/24/08 at 07:17 PM ET
Without having seen the game, I’d call that a fantastic period.
Posted by Nate A from Detroit-ish on 04/24/08 at 07:19 PM ET
Your right Paul, Wings have been flying on transition, and the Av’s cant keep up—not even close.
Posted by Jeff OKWingnut from Quest for 12 on 04/24/08 at 07:19 PM ET
Good start. Now stay intense, stay sharp.
Remember:
“Give us 60 minutes, boys. 60 full minutes.”
(Jeff - I’ll take the 3. Go Wings!!!)

And we’d be up 4-0 if Lilja could skate. After spending 2:00 in the box - still couldn’t quite make it back to touch up that icing - resulting in the only Dive goal.

“how does your defensive assignment get you hyped up for the playoffs?”
WTF? Vs. coverage. Thanks Gary. Ass.

I missed the first few minutes because of work. Does anybody know if Al defied the league and twirled the octopi?

Love the MSM comments… Soooooooooooooo astute. 2nd period, more of the same!!!!!!!!
Posted by Cwix from Roanoke, VA on 04/24/08 at 07:26 PM ET
6 shots against. I think the Wings had more chances than the Av’s had shots!!!!

Chief! There’s a cat sacrifice on your front lawn…

No, they let the linesmen clean it off. It took five minutes for two of them to do it.
I’m betting the referees ask for the rule to be repealed after having to clean off a few more octopi.
Posted by Modnar from Cincinnati, OH on 04/24/08 at 07:28 PM ET
Ah, yes, Versus coverage. The same reason I had a surreal conversation with my June Cleaver-esque wife today, explaining what, exactly, a “Douche Canoe” is.

Honest, Chief!

There should be alot more of them thrown just to drive the point home. Like one before each period, and one at the end of each period.

TD—your adolescent humor is ridiculously funny!!! Must make me an adolescent at heart

Weeeeeell, that was interesting! Eh?
Welcome to playoff hockey, Dive fans. How’s your “superhero” goalie look now? He gave up 12 goals in 6 games against the Wild. Tonight? Three goals in the first period. Awwwww. So sad.
But wait. You’re without your #1 guy. You say he’s out with a recurrence of his ankle injury? No? Oh, right. Now it’s his groin. Awwwww. So sad.
Last series the Dive played a bunch of players. Tonight, they’re playing a team. Again, welcome to playoff hockey…Wings style!
On a personal note, as soon as the Sharks beat the Flames, I cancelled my ticket for the Stress Train. Honestly. This has been the most stress-free I’ve been in a month.
The only thing that will make this game better is a D-Mac beatdown on Foote. Please, God. I’ll give up drinking (for the next period) if you allow it to happen.

“Give us 60 minutes, boys. 60 full minutes.”
I don’t know…so far this looks like one of those games the Wings could take the first two periods off, give a solid 10-15 minutes in the third, and still win.

2nd period coach-speak:

The only thing that will make this game better is a D-Mac beatdown on Laperrier
