You’re damn right we are. I don’t even know what time the frigging show starts, but I’ll find out. Oh yes I will. And we’re going to live blog it like nothing’s ever been live blogged before.
It will be riveting and it will all happen here. Man, this day is going to drag. The anticipation…it’s killing me already.
If you’re a new reader, lured in by our affection for Drew Sharp, you may not understand the “Gordo” reference. One of the 19 confirmed A2Y readers, Ryan, has provided this image to clear that issue up for you.

It’s really nice that nhl dot com lists the time for the awards show. Once again, Thanks Gary. Ass!

Versus is posting a 1900 start time. Then comes the revealing of Sidney Crosby at 2030. I knew it… sooner or later he’d come out!

But rest assured, the suspense is absolutely killing me. I’m smoking five cigarettes simultaneously as I type. And I may have to go and get a prescription for Valium. Hope I don’t burst into flame from the excitement…
If you do burst into a single flame, you can use it to burn Madden if he gets the Selke because Datsyuk and Zetterberg split the vote.

Oh man, I don’t know if I can be here for the liveblog tonight. I’m getting ready to go out of town for the weekend. I’ll try to pop in when I can because I’m sure this’ll be the last liveblog of the season for us, eh? I’m so excited for all the Wings who are up for awards. I know I’m probably in the minority, but I’m hoping Dats gets the Selke since Z has the Conn Smythe. They both deserve recognition. And Dats’ stick handling is SICK. It’s a tough call though because they both are outstanding defensive forwards.

Just throw some of this in that shrine, and it’d be perfect.

The only problem is that it’s a Porter and its from Cleveland.

There’s nothing wrong with porters, but definitely something wrong with Cleveland.
I’d stick w/ the Bell’s.

I saw Gordon Lightfoot live at Miller Auditorium on the campus of Western Michigan University. Must’ve been summer of 1978. He sang some songs from some of his albums. Sounded just like him. TWOTEF gave me chills.
I got ice cream afterwards.

oh the suspense is almost 34.7!

Andrew, “Summertime Dream” is in there. It’s the one right next to “If You Could Read My Mind.” Fitzy is also on the 3rd c.d. from the Left (c.d. 3 of 4 from the “Songbook” collection).

We might be able to talk the chief into a “NHL Draft Day Live Blog”, not that many of us know who the hell these kids are that the Wings draft, but we can have confidence that in 3 years they’re going to be hounding Grand Rapids and skating and passing their asses off!
There’s a live viewing of the Awards Show in DC at the Verizon/MCI/Whatever Center at 7th and F. I would drive there with full Winged Wheel White Jersey and sit in the middle of the Caps fans as all the Red Wings hardware comes rolling in, but it would be a 4 hour round trip for me. And 250 mile round trip is 10 gallons x $4 = $40, but hell it’d be worth it to rub the Caps fans noses again, not that there should be too many there.

That’s because the Wings draft guys 210th overall in the 7th round that all the other teams turn their noses up at. Who then turns out to be Conn Smythe winning Zetterberg.

Oh jeesh, thanks Ryan—sorry for missing it! Should be front and center. The version of Fitz that’s on Songbook isn’t the one from Gord’s Gold that’s been panned by all the purists, is it? (Though I think he was perfectly entitled to re-record his songs for a greatest hits compilation, though it’s misleading). Okay, so you don’t have to do penance. Still, Dossin Great Lakes Museum. Consider it.
And I was always partial to the lamentedly-gone Roffey’s Lake Effect Stout myself (from cask, obviously)—the ‘stout’ was a misnomer, as it was more like a porter, and blew GLBC’s offering out of the water, just like the gales of November did to its namesake. Better even than Bell’s porter, though that isn’t all that tough. Of course, now I’m gonna catch hell for saying that…

Andrew-
Songbook has the original version, the same one as “Summertime Dream,” and “Complete Greatest Hits.” I’ve got the Complete Greatest Hits c.d. somewhere around here, too. I didn’t think about putting Dream front and center, to be honest. I was more concerned about where to make the “shrine,” and that uncomfortable-as-hell chair/couch thing was the best available space, so everything was a little closer together than I had hoped for.
As far as my penence goes, I’ll see if I can’t pencil the museum in the next time I go to MI. You can buy me some of the beer you’re talking about to formally apologize for accusing me of making a shrine without Fitzy!

I did/ would/ and still do vote Dats for the Selke. His numbers are better: played in 81 games, +41, 144 takeaways (regawdamndickulous), 97 points.
Sorry Z, you played a great playoff, but Pav was better all around during the regular season.

Versus will show a montage where Olie Jokinen walks around Toronto nightclubs, nodding to NHL officials like Gary Bettman. They then gather and walk into the NHL awards show. It will be awesome.

Re: the possible draft liveblog—
Yes but consider that for this is a rare year where the WIngs get to pick in the 1st Round. Normally we have to wait until the 2nd or 3rd Rounds before they pick (ie, have to wait until Day Two)...
Posted by Primis on 06/12/08 at 01:44 PM ET
Datsyuk should win the Selke this year - maybe Zetterberg next year, but Datsyuk had a better regular season.
Re: the possible draft liveblog—
Nothing can match liveblogging the call to Verizon. There should be an advisory, similar to “your call may be monitored for quality control purposes” ...
“Warning: Your responses may be liveblogged for mocking purposes.”

Believe me Ryan, I’d like nothing better, but Roffey’s closed their doors in Holland on the lovely eastern shore of Lake Michigan years ago. I don’t think their products can be had for love nor money now.
That being said, in the rare event that I’m back in Michigan at the same time as you, seeing as how the Chief says you’re a confirmed member of the 19, I’m a man of my word, and I will buy the beers until you can drink no more.
Until then, please accept my sincere apologies for doubting you and your Lightfoot acumen. If I have to, I’ll sit for hours in the uncomfortable chair/couch thing in a form of self-flagellation. That’s if the shrine can be moved.
Oh, and thanks for the info. I don’t have any of the Lightfoot compilations.
And I agree—Datsyuk deserves the Selke, and that might go further to shut people up about how he’s a soft Euro (especially if he wins his third Lady Byng in a row). But as long as a Wing wins it, I’ll be happy. Which probably means Madden will tak it home. Ick.

Andrew-
Man, I don’t wish the uncomfortable chair/couch thing on anybody I consider human. If, however, Pronger ever stopped by, and I was somehow able to prevent an indoor “hunting accident” for long enough to offer the guy a seat, it’s all his.
It’s by far the least useful piece of furniture ever created, but it was my long-dead grandmother’s, so it stays.
Dats gets my Selke nod.

I can make out “If You Could Read My Mind” and “Cold On the Shoulder,” and I think I recognize the others, but…no “Summertime Dream?” Man, considering that “Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” sustained us for a while, that’s kinda an incomplete shrine there. Not to nitpick, but…
Eh. Make a pilgrimage to Belle Isle, go to the Dossin Great Lakes Museum, say five Hail Marys in front of the anchor, and I’m sure ol’ Lightfoot will forgive you. Better than having to go all the way to Whitefish Point to pay homage to the bell (though don’t let me dissuade you, is it ever worth it).
I’m not sure if NASN is broadcasting the awards show, but probably not. If they are, you’ll see me, otherwise, I’ll only be in if I can’t sleep. But rest assured, the suspense is absolutely killing me. I’m smoking five cigarettes simultaneously as I type. And I may have to go and get a prescription for Valium. Hope I don’t burst into flame from the excitement…
