Better get used to it Wings. Every team you play is going to play you real hard. If you thought last year was tough, well this year you’ve got a big ol’ target on your jerseys. If you don’t come prepared to work and work hard every game you aren’t going to win anything. I’ll take the positive out of this and see it as a wake-up call for the Wings. It’s going to be a looong season.

Wings have won cups while facing a trap team in the playoffs and finals. so I have no doubt they can play their game. No let down excuses like banner night, they were just out worked. Tip your hat to the leafs even though it’s tough.

I’m going to avoid the MSM for a while. Feel the puke coming on.
If you don’t wanna put an axe through your computer screen, nobody go to the main NHL page on ESPN anytime soon.

My girlfriend just pointed out something funny- the “platform” that Nick put the Cup on during the banner ceremony looks eerily like a orange construction barrel painted black.

Thanks Gary.Ass

None of you bitches missed me, so I poked holes in the feet of my Wing voodoo dolls so that they lost EVERY FU$#%$ footrace out there.
Your welcome.
This is a professional team that will take this loss as a solid reminder of what awaits them.
A couple of observations, if I may.
* I was looking for any reason to goat Maltby so that Helm could come up, but thought he did a great job back checking on Blake. The hit was a nice bonus.
* Lilja wasn’t bad. He actually looks like he worked on his footspeed over the summer. Bless the gorilla though, he doesn’t have an offensive bone in his body. Can’t one-time a puck worth a damn and the release speed of a pornstar on rewind.
* Hossa swinging it over to Dats was a teaser preview of whats to come. For right now though, they look like they’re on separate pages.
* Uncle Mike told VS that we couldn’t be stubborn and needed to win on the cycle. We were stubborn and didn’t set up the cycle well at all; cross ice passes and other bs when we needed a much simpler game.
* Boys are gonna be “establishing the work ethic” in practice. Get ready for the bag fellas.

Babs was not happy with his team in this game.
They were out-worked.
If there is one thing he will not tolerate, that is it.
Bag skate is right!

About Abel to Yzerman
Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
