Self-Medicating With Marty Turco

No confirmation from the Stars as to who’s starting in net today.  But if it’s Turco?  His therapist has recommended a sunny outlook.

“I think it’s a great situation,” Turco said. “We get to ask, ‘Who are we?’ It’s kind of an identity search, and I think we’ll see more of who we are against them this time.”

Tremendous domestic responsibilities and pressure on me today.  Will try to be back in time to start the live blog.  I assume you all know what to do in the event I’m not here to kick it off.

Oh, please, please,PLEEEEEZ start Turco in net today…I derive soooo much pleasure watching a better than average goalie(against the rest of the league)take another pounding from the Wings.

If it keeps up, Marty could eventually achieve Legace or maybe even Belfour status as a head case!

Well, it is known that he starts to have panic attacks if anyone mentions the name “Datsyuk” near him…

“Things were going so well for us, and I think part of the problem now is that when things were going well and we were scoring, I think we all started to try to take short cuts a little bit,” said center Mike Modano.

That quote stood out to me because it’s probably the last thing that Babcock would let the Wings get away with. It’s frustrating sometimes to see him praise a guy like Happy and then immediately follow it up with a statemnent like, “Of course, that’s just one game. You have to bring that every game.”

I’m sure other coaches say similar things to their players, but after two and a half years of the same mantra being recited day after day after day, the current Red Wings know he means business.

For that alone, I think Babcock deserves the Jack Adams Award this year.

Ozzie should skate over and tell Turco that the “sports psychologist” he has been seeing––which the media and he have credited for his new found calmness––that the psychologist’s name is Dom Hasek. Let’s see what that does to Turco’s pre-game prep.

Anyone else notice that Rafalski’s been a little sloppy in his own end lately?

Agreed!  Things are getting a little chippy out there.  What’s up with the wrestling with Z towards the end of the 2nd?

Gabriel..things dry on your side of the burb?  Rain be gone here on the Point.

Well another beat down of the Evil Empire JR. by the Wings.  Wow.  I have to say, that was a very strong game by the Insane Czech.  Nice road win for the Wings.  Now, can we please beat Chicago tomorrow night?

Yeah, I’m a little concerned about tomorrow’s game, hockeychic.  If I’m not mistaken, the Wings are 3-3 in the second games of back-to-backs this season.  One of those wins required a shootout, and the other two - Nashville and Colorado I think - weren’t cakewalks either.

RB, it’s on and off in Del Mar…I’m just happy I don’t have to clean up the yard today!

Well, Turk, I guess we did find out more about who you are, at least compared to the Wings.  Second best team in the West and you lose 2 games by a combined score of 7-1, and that was a meaningless goal with the Wings leading 4-0 at the time.
