Has the Hasek been renamed. Officially?
How about the Hossek? Or the Sammek?

You know what I love about that tying goal? It proves that Red Wings hockey is better than Ducks hockey. All that extra-physical, “Let me whip it out and show you how much of a man I am” shit Anaheim does bit them in the ass, with Beuchimin going for the hit instead of cutting off the pass.
Unfortunately, that doesn’t automatically make the Wings the better team or give them the win. Just makes me feel better.

High stick?

How long before Cali gets dumped into the sea?

Dats with the trick.
You know how I feel about the jinxing. My knuckles aren’t going to make it the entire season. I’ll end up like Joey Kocur at this rate.

It’ll take some balls to call this back.

It’s all political at this point. Wonder which way the justice-meter is pointing?
Posted by Earl Sleek from Anaheim, CA on 10/29/08 at 11:49 PM ET
I call shenanigans!
Posted by Rumbear from Top O da Hasek, sippin rum & catchin some rays on 10/29/08 at 11:49 PM ET
Yeah, that was expected. Fitting end to the game, I guess.
Posted by Sadie from Ann Arbor, MI on 10/29/08 at 11:49 PM ET
BULL *#$%@& SHIT. That was a high stick. I see how the league is going to handle the Wings this year.

And that completes the bullshit for the night.
I’ll loose sleep with ya’ll tomorrow nite.

Tough call to overturn. Another overtime double donkey kick to the nut sack. Night all.

Seriously, after seeing the officiating of this game did anyone actually expect that to be called back?
Posted by DetroitHockey on 10/29/08 at 11:50 PM ET
Let’s not overlook the fact that Rafalski got beaten like a rag doll on the winning goal.
Posted by calquake on 10/29/08 at 11:51 PM ET
Jesus I hate them. I say **** the Ducks but then I sound like a Blues fan.

I suppose I should not consider that one goal that actually was called back, right?

How many 5 on 3’s tomorrow?
Night all….

Night folks.
Sorry there’s no way of parting that won’t sound smug, but truly it’s been fun.
Posted by Earl Sleek from Anaheim, CA on 10/29/08 at 11:55 PM ET
Looking at the winning goal on replay, unless Beauchemin is a, ” HUGE MIDGET”, that was not a goal. The replay shows his stick was at shoulder level, meaning no goal or the aforementioned….

No longer the standard of judgment quake. It has to below the crossbar.
k…night for real…
Posted by Osrt on 10/30/08 at 12:17 AM ET
how this was not a high stick I cannot understand. even from this angle, it’s obvious…
Posted by PaulinMiamiBeach on 10/30/08 at 07:39 AM ET
Personally, the “high stick” call/noncall is not terribly troubling.
Bad officiating or not, Wings had NINE minor penalties—not going to win many games taking that many, especially against good teams. If they play like that again tonite, the Shark might reach double digits on the scoreboard.
I was surprised they squeaked a point out of that tilt—frigging ugly.

Paul, welcome to Li’l Gary’s NHL.
Notice the play was reviewed by the “War Room” in Toronto… and our little Napoleon was there, wearing a stupid hat and a smug grin. We had no chance once the Bett-phone rang in the war room.

The bummer about this game was that they played their best 35 minutes of hockey to start the game. Then the Ducks got that goal to make it 3-2 and defensive zone work ethic disappeared from the game.

Random thought…I feel sorry for Zetterberg. Hossa has made Datsyuk better just by being on the ice, and Z is relegated to the second line which now pales by comparison whereas last year they were more equal.
I knew Hossa was good, but daaaaammmmmmmnnnnnn he’s good. Anyone still want to re-sign Fedorov? Hossa > Young Fedorov > Old Fedorov
Posted by PaulinMiamiBeach on 10/30/08 at 10:03 AM ET
of course I still want to resign Fedorov and keep Hossa. I can dream right?
The Wings looked awful, particularly in the 3rd period. I was watching the Duck feed so I could have the HD but with the volume off.
On the final goal for the Ducks, that is a tough one to call back. The call on the ice was a goal so that has to stand unless they have definitive proof. I could really see it going either way so I wasn’t surprised that it wasn’t overturned. Yes, I believe it was a high stick but what can you do. The Wings were lucky to get out of there with a point and I’m dreading what is going to happen in the Shark tank tonight.

You mean Franzen?
Hopefully I won’t get a chance to see the game tonight because I’ll be too busy drinking and seducing. If I do get to watch, I’ll be stressin every minute.
The thing with Z though is that he keeps scoring goals and getting points. He’s definitely not as dominant on the ice simply because he doesn’t have someone to give-and-go with after drawing four people to him. Put Fil with him damnit!
I miss Franzen…and Helm…and Cheli.
