Sammy...an intelligent hockey player. A cross ice pass trying to thread it through 3 canadie(a)ns.

Seriously, the volume on the tube tonight is up n down and driving me nuts.......
Then the DC chimes in.......
Posted by MOWingsfan19 on 11/26/08 at 08:10 PM ET
Third line getting a lot of time tonight...and looking good for it.
Posted by AndrewFromAnnArbor from Fortress Europe on 11/26/08 at 08:12 PM ET
I’d rather have the defense suck again if it means guys like Zetterberg and Franzen will start scoring again.
Posted by Tyler from Arizona on 11/26/08 at 08:13 PM ET
Hoss is juiced too. He’s due to light the lamp.
Trying to think positive. I’ve got family showing up so I’ll be in n out.......
Posted by MOWingsfan19 on 11/26/08 at 08:14 PM ET
A bit sloppy so far. Not many passes connecting, no options in the attacking zone. Not a whole lotta speed to this game yet.

Alright...intermission ethical question: Is it wrong to hope you can drink enough to lower your immune system and catch a cold just so you don’t have to do Thanksgiving with the inlaws?
Posted by Gabriel from San Diego, CA on 11/26/08 at 08:19 PM ET
Did he really say “The wings are getting in the holiday spirit with some sensational giveaways”? I didn’t need to hear that.

It’s not wrong, but it does guarantee the hangover will make you even more miserable. And that’s ok. It is what it is Gabe. Drink up.
Posted by IwoCPO from Washington, DC on 11/26/08 at 08:24 PM ET
Bobby Clarke lending “Insight” during the intermission is the most unintentionally funny thing on television.
Posted by HockeyJoe from Upstate New York on 11/26/08 at 08:28 PM ET

I find a good hangover to be a character building experience, especially if the hangover is from gin or cheap tequila. Gin being far the best errrr worst, ever.
Posted by MOWingsfan19 on 11/26/08 at 08:29 PM ET
Tanguay’s off after Stuart’s big hit in the first. They’re fragile, those former Diques.
Posted by AndrewFromAnnArbor from Fortress Europe on 11/26/08 at 08:33 PM ET
Ask Forsbeg. Sakic is the exception tho’, deservedly so.
Posted by MOWingsfan19 on 11/26/08 at 08:34 PM ET
The Flyers scouting staff not getting enough credit for Carter and Richards?
Weren’t they both First round picks? Shut up DC.
Posted by HockeyJoe from Upstate New York on 11/26/08 at 08:35 PM ET
The Pylon’s a soccer player?
Maybe that’s been the problem this whole time: his parents registered him in the wrong sport.
Posted by Alzy from Innisfail, Alberta, Canada on 11/26/08 at 08:36 PM ET
Those are the same talking heads that were raving about Fil, Happy, and Helm, and giving their draft numbers when they had a that great move into the offensive zone...then saying that they were high picks compared to Z and Dats. Double standard idiots.
And...dammit. We’re playing well, but it only takes one bad bounce.
Posted by AndrewFromAnnArbor from Fortress Europe on 11/26/08 at 08:37 PM ET
I’m literally shocked the Enigma didn’t score right there.
Posted by IwoCPO from Washington, DC on 11/26/08 at 08:39 PM ET
Damn!! I get back from dinner, and its scoreless. Get the laptop set up and the damn Hab’s pot an impossible shot—figures.
Happy Thanksgiving all!!
Posted by Jeff OKWingnut from Hockey Netherworld on 11/26/08 at 08:40 PM ET
Maybe we’re playing well defensively, but every foray into the Candiens zone is ending in nothing. We had a good shift from Dats, Hossa and Kopecky but the offense isn’t accomplishing anything.
Posted by Tyler from Arizona on 11/26/08 at 08:41 PM ET
One thing to point out here-- Wings haven’t had a PP yet.
Tanguay out for the rest of the game.
Posted by AndrewFromAnnArbor from Fortress Europe on 11/26/08 at 08:41 PM ET
Little Gary, where the hell’s our PP?
god forbid we beat the Canadiens during their cenntennial. Thanks Gary. Ass.
Posted by Alzy from Innisfail, Alberta, Canada on 11/26/08 at 08:45 PM ET
Hammered—should get 2 minors for that shift.
Posted by Jeff OKWingnut from Hockey Netherworld on 11/26/08 at 08:47 PM ET
We’re halfway through the game, and it took Hamrlik blatantly mugging a Wing, but there it is, Alzy.
Posted by AndrewFromAnnArbor from Fortress Europe on 11/26/08 at 08:47 PM ET
I’m gonna go off the deep end if we don’t score here.
Posted by Tyler from Arizona on 11/26/08 at 08:48 PM ET
Well, there goes the PP because the refs can’t seem to call a cross-check on Gorges.
Posted by AndrewFromAnnArbor from Fortress Europe on 11/26/08 at 08:50 PM ET
Georges hits from behind - nothing.
Hossa runs through Georges - BAD BAD BAD.
Fackin’ stupid.
Posted by HockeyJoe from Upstate New York on 11/26/08 at 08:50 PM ET
I’m surprised we didn’t get a diving call Andrew.
So, CokeandPepsi gets cross-checked from behind, no call. But Hossa just does a bodycheck and it’s a penalty?
Thanks Gary. Ass.
Posted by Alzy from Innisfail, Alberta, Canada on 11/26/08 at 08:50 PM ET
WTF?? Kopecky taking a couple cross checks, and Hossa ends up with the minor??
Posted by Jeff OKWingnut from Hockey Netherworld on 11/26/08 at 08:50 PM ET
And theres the Enigma we all know and love
Posted by Jeff OKWingnut from Hockey Netherworld on 11/26/08 at 08:51 PM ET
At least the linesmen had that offsides.
Wait, what?
Posted by HockeyJoe from Upstate New York on 11/26/08 at 08:52 PM ET
This is idiotic. Should have been a Wings five-on-three, but instead there’s Montreal’s second.
Posted by AndrewFromAnnArbor from Fortress Europe on 11/26/08 at 08:52 PM ET
Kopecky keeps getting mugged and no calls at all—ABSURD
Posted by Jeff OKWingnut from Hockey Netherworld on 11/26/08 at 08:53 PM ET
Wow and a missed too many men call now.
When it rains it pours.
Posted by HockeyJoe from Upstate New York on 11/26/08 at 08:53 PM ET
Listen to that-- the 8,000 Habs fans at the Joe are chanting “Gary, Gary...” They know which side their bread is buttered on too.
And there’s 3-0. For *#$%@&’s sake.
Posted by AndrewFromAnnArbor from Fortress Europe on 11/26/08 at 08:54 PM ET
It is really raining now Joe—damn freaking UGLY
Posted by Jeff OKWingnut from Hockey Netherworld on 11/26/08 at 08:54 PM ET
God I hate that call on Hossa. Just checking in folks, as I have caught up on my DVR and am LIVE BITCHES.
Just in time to see the 2nd goal against the Organization. If I have any stomach lining by the end of this season, it will be a miracle.
And the third goal… I need another shot.
Posted by VooX from Behind the Bar in the Hasek Club Car on 11/26/08 at 08:54 PM ET
FFS.
That was weak by the Conk-blocker.
Posted by Alzy from Innisfail, Alberta, Canada on 11/26/08 at 08:54 PM ET
thanks for the link chief. i am in Ohio with family and can’t watch the game. Unreal down 0-2.
Posted by hankyspanky40 from Michigan on 11/26/08 at 08:55 PM ET
Wait...what? I go to make a sandwich when we’re on the PP...come back and we’re down by THREE??
What the hell happened??
Posted by Gabriel from San Diego, CA on 11/26/08 at 08:56 PM ET
I’m gonna castrate the DC.
A goal, or hell, how about sustained pressure? Any one would be nice right now boys.
Posted by Alzy from Innisfail, Alberta, Canada on 11/26/08 at 08:58 PM ET
this is sickening. worse then the in-laws, well except I no longer have inlaws, lol
Posted by hankyspanky40 from Michigan on 11/26/08 at 08:58 PM ET
I saw what happened Gabe, and I still couldn’t tell you—damn friggin ugliness.
Posted by Jeff OKWingnut from Hockey Netherworld on 11/26/08 at 08:58 PM ET
I seriously think they forgot that they won the Cup last year.

About Abel to Yzerman
Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that. Your suggestions and critiques are welcome:

"I realize it’s the slow summer season, but can this guy tone down the tough-guy histrionics? His posts are fatiguing on an otherwise excellent site."
--A2Y Fan, Eternal_Fields
"I constantly marvel at how Bill (IwoCPO) and his disciples at Abel To Yzerman can be so pompous and full of themselves throughout every regular season, but come playoff time they collapse into wavering puddles of stress and nervousness as they anxiously await the impending and unavoidable collapse of the Red Wings in the post-season."
--Mile High Hockey
"I hate them because they are better than us. Of all the frigging teams…"
--In The Cheap Seats
"It's just a shame that the most classless, uneducated, lowbrow fanbase in the league gets this sweep. Red Wing fans don't deserve their team."
--Thhom
"I really don’t care what fans or bloggers think."
--Drew Sharp
"Why is it you Detroit fans are still so classless when you have such a classy hockey team, with such a professional GM and gentlemen players? I understand that the author of this blog is a manner-less cad, but the rest of you should be better."
--A2Y Fan, Jeff Beaumont
"Have you ever *read* A2Y? Its the most opinionated, juvenile stuff i've read."
