How the Wings respond to the disaster in Buffalo will say a lot about the team, its Captain and the coach.
I believe they’ll come out a very dangerous team.
And because that’s what I believe I’ve opted for Robert Clark “Bob” Seger to ensure it happens.
Five games means a whole lot of nothing.
It means jack squat, really.
But when you haven’t seen what you know is there, it kinda makes you wonder when and where this team is gonna show.
Waitin’ on the thunder, bitches. That’s where we are right now.

If we lose tonight AND Saturday one of ONLY two things will happen.
1) We will not make the playoffs.
Or
2) We win the Stanley Cup.
There is no middle ground.

Oh Hells Ya, the lyrics I have often quoted in this here rag,
“She was a black haired beauty with big brown eyes,
with points of her own sittin way up high.
Way up firm and high.”

need to pay attention to the details.

There is no big mystery to what happened in Buffalo, no reason for introspection or deep analysis… The Wings got Babocked.
When Uncle Mike ran his first practice his vision was clear. Don’t give the other team time and space with the puck. Pressure the puck right away. Forecheck. Throw pucks at the net. Uptempo game. Pressure pressure pressure.
That is exactly what Buffalo did to the Wings. Couldn’t connect on passes out of the zone resulting in rubber being thrown at the goalie with forwards buzzing around the net for a rebound. No time with the puck to set up tape to tape passes. That is how Buffalo has amassed a ridiculous imbalance of possession and shots for : shots against. Does that remind you of anyone from two or three years ago? Goals against were way down two years ago because the opponent just couldn’t connect two passes from the Detroit pressure.
Question is do the Wings have the legs and desire to play like that this season? Those two elements are more important to the answer to that question than having all-star skill level.
We shall see.
(Side note, can Buffalo play like that every night?)

Wings win tonight, 3-2, a sweat night again for the fans.
Helm is on the scoreboard, G or A.

Jeebus, am I deranged or getting more like Chief every night? I’m on my 2d Two-Hearted already ensuring that I’ll pass out in the 2d period, making ridiculous forecasts that seem all too logical to me, and I’m spamming this MF’er already as soon as the LB went up.

Not good enough. I want to see a statement game. That statement being that they were embarassed by their play in Buffalo. LA played last night. Time to kick some ass. I want, no, I expect the Wings to totally trash the Kings.
I’ve been listening to the MC5 over and over on youtube. I am fired up to get this game on.

You aren’t fooling me. Don’t tell me this game means jack squat and then pull out Night Moves (and embed the video no less). I’m on to you.

Wife is out with friends tonight. I’m leaving work early to hit the butcher (pork shoulder, sausage and maybe some bacon) and then home to catch the last two periods and drink way to heavily for a Thursday night.
See ya later.

Kinda expected that. At least it’s a happy ending. But, is it bad that the first thing I thought of when I heard he wasn’t in the balloon when they first found it was “yaaaaaaa-hoo-hoo-hoo-hooey!!”

Keating just gave a pre-commercial teaser of listening to a morbidly depressed Mule talk about not being able to play. I’d rather they bring up Game 7 again; at least that shit’s over.

Just a thought, what if the Buffalo game WAS a “Statement Game”. The Statement is that other teams will skate Nancy Kerrigan circles around the Wings while going Tonya Harding on our goalies.
WTF am I trippin’ on tonight? Sigh…..

I’m with Tyler.
This one has ANXIETY written al over it.
IMO we want to believe our athletes actually care about winning and the logo on the front of their sweater; and aren’t like other WHINY BITCH athletes who only care about the name on the back of the sweater.

ouch. early 18 seconds two-man advantage. Shark kill looked good up till that point.

Kronwall: “I don’t know who said I was questionable ... never any doubt that I was playing.”
I consistently enjoy the things he says. Usually blunt honest and you can really see that he gives a shit.

I’m making the cordial “Evenin’ Bitches” avatar a healthy scratch tonight and going with “Mad Men”. Let’s hope Freaking So anyway.

I think I tried Nannerpuss for Game 7 of the Finals. If it wasn’t Game 7, it was definitely Game 6. I’m too terrified to verify, so you can just assume that he’s dead and in my basement.

I had no avatar then - I was represented merely by a generic puck.
My attention will be split between this and the Dodgers game - Clayton Kershaw is starting, and I need to watch him pitch.

Perhaps the “Nannerpuss is only good for regular season mojo—you know, kinda like A-Roid. He may just be the tonic.
Cuz if the Wings don’t start killing friggin penalties, it could get real, real ugly.
