Stealing From My Friends

I’ve decided I don’t like the term “blogosphere” anymore. Kind of like “Michigander” or “diet”. Not real fond of those two either. So, this will be the last time you see it at A2Y. Henceforth and thusly, any time I present to you a conglomeration of views in one sloppy post I will title it “Stealing From My Friends”.
I sense that you are apprehensive. Apprehensive like a transvestite Dive fan caught in Raleigh at 0130 on a Tuesday? No, but understandably wary. Me too. Here we go.
First stop: Sunny Phoenix and Casonblog. Cason and I share many of the same views. I’m not sure of his feelings regarding eating blocks of cheddar and watching 6 straight DVR’d re-runs of The Office on a Saturday afternoon rather than building a gazebo out back as instructed, but I know we feel the same about this.
So my kids jump outta the rack today eager to wear their finest red, white and blue to elementary school. My wife, a school teacher, fusses at my son for dumping his sweaty PE clothes in the dryer to “freshen them up.” Her red t-shirt was in the dryer. It’s 9/11 remembrance day in the schools.
So my wife gets to school and her teaching partner isn’t wearing R-W-B. She casually asks if her partner forgot during her morning rush to get her kids and herself to school. The response? “I don’t recognize 9/11. Our government brought down the towers.”
Serenity now. Serenity now.
If you haven’t see Scott Burnside’s column from yesterday, go ahead and glance at it. Christy Hammond addresses the questions he has regarding the Wings.
The Dominator may be crazy, but he’s a competitor and it seems he finally find a method of properly warming up/cooling down that is better on his groin. Plus, it sounds like this will be his last season so that’s always incentive for him to play well.
As much as I like Kronwall, I have a hard time believing he can stay healthy for an entire season. If he can, I think we could really see some improvement in play for Kronner especially if he sees an increase in playing time with Mathieu Schneider gone.
My thoughts? Thank you for asking. Chris Osgood’s going to get a load of ice time this year. If he stays healthy, I see him in at least 35 games. Hopefully 32of those will be against The Division That Gary Built.
We came to appreciate the talents of Earl Sleek last Spring as his Poultry cheated their way past the rightful champions. Today I point you to his ode to Niedermayer logic.
Dear Scott: I for one would like to say that I completely support your inability to make up your mind. Sure, retirement would have meant you could relax away from hockey, but not deciding, now there’s a stroke of brilliance!
Not only do you avoid pesky hockey duties like training camp and flying to London and back, but you also get to steer clear of any PTAs or HOAs or any other serious household responsibilities. After all, how could you commit to anything long-term? You’ve still gotta remain available for hockey, just in case you stumble on some motivation or conscience, right?
One lazy guy to another, I salute you, soldier. You’ve played enough games hurt that I can allow some missed games healthy. Enjoy your break.
Yes, enjoy it so much that it lasts until, I don’t know, October 4th?
Matt Saler has what could be the definitive word on Igor Grigorenko. Despite the rhetoric and predictions from yours truly and the expectations of a fan base that has waited years for his arrival in Detroit, it may all boil down to this.
While I’d love to have a Calder Trophy candidate Grigorenko on the team, I have no interest in seeing the Wings give a roster spot to a player who isn’t going to give his all when there’s a guy like Matt Ellis ready to step in. If Igor has a great main camp, the question becomes murkier, but he still should probably see some AHL time. He’s no Henrik Zetterberg or Pavel Datsyuk, after all. If that’s not okay with him, good riddance.
Finally this morning, don’t forget to vote. 5.76 days remain.

What was #1… what you just said?
Yes, the chick was an idiot. Frightening so.
Yes, she’s actually in a position to teach other people. Similarly scary.
But let’s not get too crazy about one (or a hundred, or a thousand) stupid opinions and start espousing violence, even (mostly) in jest.
Now, if she just happened to fall down a flight of stairs, well, there’s always karma.

Trolling in the naming of patriotism is still trolling. Wow.

But… but… FIRE DOESN’T MELT STEEL!
Don’t you know it was just a modern day Reichstag fire orchestrated by Chimpy McHalliburton and his neocon cabal? ‘Cause it’s alllll about the oil. (well, that and the Jews.)
Sheesh, get with it, guys.

See what happens when women gain the freedom of speech? Stupid things come out of their piehole.
Right, because women never say anything that makes sense and should all be brutalized if they don’t have the sense to shut up. Come to think of it, that happens in most of the world already, so why not in North America, too?
Like most of the 9-11 conspiracy advocates aren’t men--such as the “producers” of the movie Loose Change. Don’t advocate torture, even as a joke. For too many it’s not funny because it’s happened to them.

Yeah, honestly, your comments come in as slightly more ignorant and slightly scarier than that school teacher. It’s only a tiny gap, but a gap nonetheless.

I hate to say this, but there is more than enough evidence to support a claim that the U.S. Government was behind 9/11.
Just like the fact that there really was no moon landing.
I would go into more detail about how I know these things, but the government is hiding under my desk watching me type this.

See what happens when women gain the freedom of speech? Stupid things come out of their piehole.
See what happens when cousins marry? Their knuckledragging mouth-breather children post misogynist garbage.
That teacher was foolish--if I didn’t know any better I’d say she’s the same person that came into the Stop-n-Rob I work at and blapped on at me about the North American Union that’ll be formed in 2010 (and of course it was true because she read about it on teh intarwebz)--but stifling her speech with violence doesn’t do anything except make you the boyfriend of a large transvestite named Tommy-Bo-Bob...of course, it’s the über-moron TeamDub talking, so there you go.
Do I feel that the US government has used that horrible tragedy as a pretext for the gradual removal of civil liberties under the guise of “national security”? Yes. But as I said in Cason’s commentbox, there is absolutely no credible evidence whatsoever to support the conspiracy theory that the US government orchestrated and perpetrated 9/11.

I just wrote a piece on my Facebook blog about a key portion of the 9/11 Pentagon attack conspiracy theory has never been addressed - a portion that completely invalidates an already ridiculous theory.
The fun part about this whole thing is that it’s not the right-wing that the Islamofascists have the problem with. Liberals like to think that it’s a war between Bush (who’s clearly the most liberal president we’ve had since Carter and arguably ever) and his “right-wing” cronies against Islam. But that’s not what it is at all. Bush is defending America against Islamic aggression - Islamic aggression that comes from a perception amongst Muslims that Western culture brings with it unholy things like abortion and gay marriage.
Basically, Islam is opposed to liberalism, and the liberals hate Bush for defending their right to be liberal dipshits from the people who just plain don’t want liberal bullshit in their backyard.

Not really. There are a few “liberals” (as in, “people who are anti-Bush") who hate Shrubya for other reasons that are only marginally related to the “War on Terror”.
But what do I know, I’m just a puckbunny. /rolleyes

über-moron?
Ahh yes, I love being judged by someone I’ve never interacted with.
Keep up the good work, cankles.

This from a guy who called a woman a whore just because she expressed a belief in a meritless conspiracy theory.
Right.

Rough crowd.
Look people, your namecalling isn’t going to change my ways of thinking. I am a disabled veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Not to mention, I was married to a redhead. So sticks and stones…

Time to bone up on reading comprehension, cankles… wasn’t me who said that.

This is somehow Iwo’s fault. A war of the sexes (sexists?), good job Chief...you know the natives are restless come September.
Why not just put some rabid dogs in a closet and poke them with a stick?

Hmm…
Where’s Ian?
Posted by TeamDub from Toledo on 09/12/07 at 06:25 PM ET
I hear ya Gabriel. And Dub, I miss Ian too. Poor little guy.
Posted by IwoCPO from Washington, DC on 09/12/07 at 06:42 PM ET
Isn’t it odd that Ian disappeared right around the time eyeliner-boy was getting booked in Dive Central?
I’m not sayin’, I’m just sayin’.
And I agree with Acid, calling that chick a whore is way out of line. Obviously, with opinions like that she hasn’t been tagged in many a season. Um, I’m talking about the nameless chick there, not Acid. I think.
The likely aversion to soap, meat products and razors certainly doesn’t bump her too far up the attract-o-meter, either.
Posted by HockeyinHD on 09/12/07 at 07:24 PM ET
I have been posting here for quite a while, but I don’t recall Ian. What was his deal?
Solid post, HD.
Posted by Thomas on 09/12/07 at 08:50 PM ET
Hey Queen… how are you better than I? I expressed my opinions about a person that said something I didn’t agree with. You criticize me and call me names for that. You are no better than I. So, haha, you the doodoohead!!!
That being said…
Chief, I did not mean to, in any way, disrespect your site. If I may have shown any, I apologize.
Posted by cementslinger from Midland MI on 09/12/07 at 09:20 PM ET
If there’s one thing I’ve learned about this blog it’s that respect, propriety and the ability to calmly discuss are requirements.
And being able to count.

About Abel to Yzerman
Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that. Your suggestions and critiques are welcome:

I would gladly spend 24 hours in jail just to beat that little whore’s ass so bloody that even the terrorists, that she supports, would feel sorry for her. Just for being that downright stupid. That is the second most ignorant thing I have ever heard in my life.
